OPEN// FM hails parliament's role in strengthening human rights

CAIRO, April 22 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the House of Representatives' Human Rights Committee for supporting citizens through legislative efforts and contributing to Egypt's human rights progress. He also highlighted the state's commitment to improving the quality of life under the direction of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and noted the foreign ministry's cooperation with the parliament on rights-related matters. Abdelatty reviewed recent advances under the National Human Rights Strategy and Egypt's participation in the Universal Periodic Review in January 2025. He also welcomed recent legal reforms, including the updated criminal procedures law, which he said supports the justice system and public freedoms. Additionally, the top diplomat reiterated Egypt's rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians and condemned violations in Gaza. He stressed the importance of preserving Sudan's unity and supporting Syria's stability.
