Charleston Housing Authority marks 90 years
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An organization that provides affordable housing to low and moderate-income citizens in the city of Charleston is celebrating a milestone.
The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston on Thursday will mark 90 years of service, community and progress.
The housing authority was organized in May 1935. It provides day-to-day operational support for more than 1,300 public housing households located throughout the city and over 1,500 Housing Choice Voucher Program participants living in private accommodations.
Staff help with maintenance, property management, administrative, and resident service duties.
The organization will celebrate with a special luncheon on Thursday afternoon.
