1 dead in officer-involved shooting in Houston
The Brief A person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Houston, police say. They say the subject was armed, and confronted an officer before being shot. In a later statement, police said the suspect died at a nearby hospital. HOUSTON - A person in Houston is dead after police say he approached officers with a knife Thursday evening. Houston police say they initially responded to a suicide in progress, which progressed to the person approaching officers with a knife, ultimately resulting in him being fatally shot. What we know According to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Houston police said they were on their way to the scene at 9255 West Sam Houston Parkway. In the initial release, they said an armed subject confronted an officer, and the officer fired his gun. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, they said. No officers were injured. The Latest In a press conference around 7:30 p.m., Houston PD said the person was actively harming himself when officers were called to the scene. Three officers responded to the call, and upon arrival, they say the subject approached them with a knife. One officer fired his gun in self-defense, they said. The subject was injured by the gunshot, and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life, police said. He later died at the hospital. Murder Suspect in Sauce Walka and Sayso P Shooting Found Executed
Update 12:04 PM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Jayden Dandridge was found shot multiple times in an abandoned building on March 27. Memphis Police are no longer pursuing the suspect they ID'ed on video in the Sauce Walka shooting that also killed rapper Sayso P ... because the guy is no longer alive!!! Monday morning, Memphis Police announced 21-year-old Jayden Dandridge had been found deceased in Houston, Texas. No further details were released. We obtained footage last week of Dandridge inside the stolen 2021 Dodge Charger 392 Scat Pack that was used in the murder. The warrant for Dandridge, which was issued last Wednesday, is no longer active. Investigators revealed they are now looking for 22-year-old Kevin Brown in the area and charged him similarly to Dandridge -- first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and property theft. Sauce Walka has been on the mend since the shooting but has been mourning his slain friend online. Police are offering a $6K reward for any info leading up to Brown's arrest via their hotline 901-528-CASH.

Two others in the 610 crash were sent to a hospital. HOUSTON - Two crashes in the southeast Houston area are reportedly tied to one car chase that led to a driver in the hospital and another one being arrested. What we know According to Houston police, Texas DPS air officials were flying over Interstate 610 near Wayside Drive when they spotted a Camaro with stolen license plates. Officials on the ground tried to stop the Camaro and a pickup truck that was following the vehicle. The driver of the pickup allegedly abandoned the truck and tried to hide under a house. He was found by Houston PD air units and a K-9 unit. The Camaro driver allegedly led a high-speed chase on I-45 before hitting a car carrier, another vehicle, and a barrier. The Camaro driver was sent to a hospital and is expected to recover. Houston police say two other people on 610 were sent to a hospital after a crash. It's believed that both crashes are tied to the car chase. What we don't know No one involved in the chase or the two crashes has been identified.
