Huffy recalls ride-on toys sold exclusively at Walmart
(WHTM)– The Huffy Corporation recalled about 24,700 Torex UTV ride-on toys sold exclusively at Walmart due to a fire hazard.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled ride-on toys can overheat due to improper wiring, posing a fire hazard.
The CPSC says there have been 20 reports of incidents where the vehicles smoked or caught fire, five of which resulted in injuries.
The recall involves black Huffy-branded Torex 24-volt ride-on toy UTVs with red trim. The CPSC says 'Torex' is located on the front and side of the toy, and model numbers 17249 and 17310 with date codes between 16919 and 11122 are located under the body near the rear wheels.
Consumers should stop using the product and contact Huffy for a repair. The CPSC said that the Huffy Corporation will reimburse consumers up to $50 for third-party repairs.
The product was sold at Walmart nationwide between August 2019 and December 2024 for between $500 and $600.
