Hughesy scores invite to huge celebrity wedding in London

Dave Hughes has revealed he almost missed an invite to one of this year's biggest celebrity weddings because he was in the I'm a Celeb jungle. Speaking to podcast, From the Newsroom, Hughesy mentioned that he has been invited to Spice Girl Mel B's wedding in London in a few months time. 'When I was in the jungle, it was a month with no contact with anyone,' he explained. It wasn't until a few weeks after he'd been voted off the show that Hughesy finally got around to checking all the emails he had missed while filming the reality program. 'One of them was from Mel B's wedding planner who said, 'Do you want to go to the wedding?'' Hughesy added, noting it was sent not long after he entered the jungle, about six weeks prior. 'I quickly emailed back, 'yes … we want to go to the wedding!'' It just so happened that the comedian and his wife had already booked a holiday that would take them to London around the time of the wedding. 'We are going to London for three weeks in July and I've got some gigs booked over there,' he told 'I swear to God, we'd booked this holiday (in advance) and the wedding is a day in-between a couple of gigs I'm doing, so it's a perfectly situated wedding date.' Hughesy, who became good mates with Mel B while filming The Masked Singer on Channel 10, said he's excited to hopefully rub shoulders with some famous people at the soiree. 'Let's hope all the Spice Girls are there, and Simon Cowell. I reckon he could do with me what he did with One Direction back in the day!' the comedian joked. What we know about Mel B's wedding Mel B is tying the knot with hairstylist Rory McPhee, with the pair announcing their engagement in October 2022. They're getting married at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, the same church where Princess Diana and then-Prince Charles were married. 'As I have an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) I am allowed to marry at St Paul's,' the singer told The Sun about the exclusive location. Mel B has confirmed that all of the Spice Girls will be invited, with one in particular playing a special role on the big day. 'Victoria (Beckham) actually designed my dress and my mum's dress,' she told the US Today show. 'It's such a beautiful honour to get.' It'll be one of three dresses that Mel plans to wear that day. 'I don't think it would be fair to just have one … at least three, right?' she told the Today show hosts. 'One to actually get married in, which is the proper ceremony … and then maybe I want to change out of that and be a bit more less … You know, I actually don't know!' What else did Hughesy say? On the From the Newsroom podcast, Hughesy opened up about his time on I'm a Celeb, revealing there was one star in particular who liked to 'self-pleasure' in the jungle. He also spoke about his 16-year-old son's reaction to seeing him perform stand-up comedy for the first time ever during this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Dave Hughes set to attend exclusive celebrity wedding at iconic London venue after almost missing email

Comedian Dave Hughes has scored an invite to one of the year's most exclusive celebrity weddings, where he'll mingle with global stars at Spice Girl Mel B's London ceremony. Hughesy revealed he almost missed the invitation while filming I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! due to a month-long communication blackout. 'When I was in the jungle, it was a month with no contact with anyone,' he told From the Newsroom podcast. After leaving the show, he discovered an email from Mel B's wedding planner asking, 'Do you want to go to the wedding?' sent weeks earlier. 'I quickly emailed back, 'yes … we want to go to the wedding!'' he said. The timing proved perfect, as Hughesy and his wife had already booked a July holiday in London, coinciding with the wedding date. 'The wedding is a day in-between a couple of gigs I'm doing, so it's a perfectly situated wedding date,' he added. Mel B, engaged to hairstylist Rory McPhee since 2022, will wed at London's St. Paul's Cathedral-a venue reserved for MBE recipients like herself. 'As I have an MBE, I am allowed to marry at St Paul's,' she told The Sun. The couple's guest list includes all Spice Girls members, with Victoria Beckham designing Mel's wedding gown. 'Victoria actually designed my dress and my mum's dress,' Mel B confirmed to the Today show. Hughesy, who befriended Mel B on The Masked Singer, joked about networking opportunities: 'Let's hope all the Spice Girls are there, and Simon Cowell. I reckon he could do with me what he did with One Direction back in the day!' Mel B plans to wear three dresses, including her ceremony gown and a reception outfit, telling Today: 'I don't think it would be fair to just have one … at least three, right?'
