City of Davenport considers extending agreement with Humane Society
Davenport's Committee of the Whole on Wednesday approved extending a one-year contract with the Humane Society of Scott County.
This would extend the current deal between the Humane Society and the city. The Humane Society would continue to provide animal control services for Davenport.
The proposal moves to the full City Council next week.
According to the City of Davenport website, the city contracts with the Humane Society of Scott County to provide an animal shelter for the animal welfare of the city, the personnel to carry out and enforce mandates under ordinance Chapter 6.04 of the Davenport Municipal Code 'Animals' and to respond to animal control calls within city limits. The Humane Society of Scott County also oversees licensing of dogs and cats within city limits.
