Bike and clothing found but motorcyclist missing from Wangaratta crash site
A search continues for a missing motorcyclist after a crash on the Hume Freeway in Victoria's north-east at about 6:30pm on Friday.
Police say the rider was thrown from their bike after colliding with a car near the southbound on-ramp of the Hume Freeway entrance in south Wangaratta.
The driver of the car stopped and spoke with police at the scene, but the rider — who police say may be seriously injured — could not be found.
Their motorcycle was found near the crash site and did not have registration plates.
The rider's gloves and helmet were also found in a nearby paddock after a significant search between the freeway and Glenrowan Road, but there were no other signs of the rider.
Police say a line search, a door-knock of nearby homes, checks with local hospitals and a search of yards nearby has failed to find or identify the rider.
The police air wing was also called in to search the surrounding area without success.
Police are appealing for the rider to come forward and for anyone with information to contact police.
