Powys homes without power due to faulty transformer
Hundreds of homes in north Powys are without power due to a faulty transformer.
Properties in the Welshpool, Machynlleth, Llanbrynmair and Caersws areas have experienced power cuts since around 5.30am on Thursday morning.
Electricity distribution company SP Energy Networks said it is aiming to have all power restored by 3pm on Thursday.
"We are sorry for the continued interruption of power in the SY17, SY19, SY20 and SY21 area of Caersws, Llanbrynmair, Machynlleth and Welshpool," SP Energy Networks said.
"Power to some properties are now back on but we are still working on the repairs to a faulty transformer at Bron Seli affecting the rest of our customers without power."
News of power cuts in north Powys comes after some properties in Newtown town centre went without electricity for around 10 hours from 3.30pm on Wednesday.
Caribbean restaurant Hummingbird Lounge in High Street was one of the businesses affected by the power outage.
Johnal Guy Simpson, owner, told customers that it was a "tough day" after giving away "so much stock".
"We had no choice but to cancel tables tonight, which was done in a timely and respectful manner," he added.
