Hamilton's big day; Stevenson free throws send Huntington to title game
HAMMOND, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Huntington Lady Raiders are state championship game bound after a thrilling 61-59 victory over over John Curtis in the Division I (Select) semifinals on Thursday.
Senior Carley Hamilton led the way for the Lady Raiders with 27 points and 8 rebounds.
'It means a lot, to know that we went through adversity all of last year and all of this year,' said Hamilton. 'We got one more, that's where we're trying to get the ring.
Kyndal Graham drove to the basket and scored to tie the game at 59 with :15 seconds remaining and then made a pair of free throws with :02 seconds left in the game to seal the victory.
'We work on free throws all the time and we know that free throws win championships,' said Graham. I just buckled down, stayed solid and hit the free throws.'
Huntington will play the winner between Woodlawn (Baton Rouge) and Edna Karr on Saturday at 4 p.m. for the state championship.
