Firefighter hurt while battling house fire in Hutchinson

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Hutchinson Fire Department said a firefighter injured his hand while battling a fire Friday. The fire happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of N. Monroe. Crews arrived to find heavy fire on the porch and in the house. The occupants inside the home escaped, and one person was evaluated for smoke inhalation and heat exposure. Two cats were also safely removed. Severe risk this weekend and early next week The firefighter who received an injury to his hand was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Hutchinson man arrested for attempted murder and assault

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Hutchinson police arrested a 23-year-old man following a domestic disturbance on Tuesday. It started around 4:15 p.m. near 17th Avenue and Plum Street. A woman was found injured near the scene and taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. SWAT was called in and was able to enter the home after a man barricaded himself inside and did not cooperate with officers. Unexpected home birth for Kansas couple The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and other crimes. Man arrested in connection to deadly Hutchinson house fire

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the deaths of a woman and child, whose bodies were discovered in a Hutchinson house fire. Hutchinson police say the man is facing multiple charges in the deaths of 32-year-old Kalsey Payton of Hutchinson and 4-year-old Naomi Payton. It happened early Saturday in the 1000 block of E. 3rd Ave. The suspect and Naomi's 6-year-old sister were transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment shortly after emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The girl was later transferred to St. Francis in Wichita but has since been treated and released. KBI investigating after Salina standoff ends in man shot Hutchinson police say the man was booked into the Reno County Correctional Facility Tuesday on suspicion of the following: Two counts of first-degree murder One count of aggravated arson One count of aggravated endangering a child Two counts of felony interference with law enforcement The case has been turned over to the Reno County Attorney's Office, and formal charges are pending. The Hutchinson Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Hutchinson Fire Department, the Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Naomi's biological father has started a GoFundMe to help lay his daughter to rest.
