‘Squid Game' Director Honoured at Gotham Awards for Global Impact
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the visionary behind Netflix's global sensation Squid Game, was awarded the prestigious Creator Tribute at the Gotham Awards in New York on Monday, in recognition of his groundbreaking contribution to television. Accepting the award in English, Hwang described the continuing success of Squid Game as 'a miracle,' reflecting on how a once-rejected Korean script became a worldwide phenomenon over 12 years. 'Four years ago, when Squid Game won the Breakthrough Series Award, I called it a miracle,' Hwang said. 'Standing here again tonight, I believe that miracle still continues.' Hwang's remarks struck a humble tone, especially when reflecting on the meaning behind the Gotham trophy. 'It's not shiny or fancy like an Emmy or an Oscar,' he said. 'But it reminds us not to be blinded by the glamor of success and to carry the responsibility that comes with it.' Actor Lee Jung-jae, who portrays the main character Seong Gi-hun, introduced Hwang during the ceremony. ‘Squid Game' Creator Teases Potential Spinoff: ‘I Want to Show What They Did' Between Seasons 1 and 2
Netflix just dropped the trailer for Season 3 of 'Squid Game,' premiering June 27, and now creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is teasing a potential spinoff for the South Korean international sensation. 'If I make [a] spin off, it will be a story happening between Season 1 and 2. There [was] a three years gap between Season 1 and 2,' Hwang told IndieWire on the Gotham Awards red carpet June 2. 'So, I want to show what they did for those times.' 'Definitely the same for my own character as well. So, you have to check it out.' Jung-jaw told The Hollywood Reporter that he was 'nervous' about what the fan reaction might be to the third season. 'We are going to be releasing quite soon, I am very nervous. know that a lot of you out there are curious about what's going to happen in Season 3, but all of us are more curious about how much you're going to enjoy it. Squid Game to return on Netflix 'one last time': Check Season 3 release date
Netflix's number one non-English language series of all time, Squid Game, is returning 'one last time' with its own rules. Squid Game Season 3, the series finale, is being premiered shortly after its Season 2 debuted on Netflix on December 26. Netflix said that Squid Game Season 3 will premiere on the OTT platform on June 27. In its most recent post for Squid Game 3, Netflix said, 'Step into the games one last time. Squid Game Season 3. June 27.' In the Squid Game Season 3 teaser, Gi-hun finds himself back in the dorm after his collapsed revolt. Other players also return to the competition with the stakes higher than before. In a letter to fans, the writer-director of the web series, Hwang Dong-hyuk, said, 'The fierce clash between two (Gi-hun and Front Man) worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3.' A failed rebellion, the death of a friend, and a secret betrayal — Squid Game Season 3 picks up in the aftermath of Season 2's bloody cliffhanger. Gi-hun, who is at his lowest point in this season, will be forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair. The finale thrusts the surviving players into deadlier games that test everyone's resolve. With each round, their choices lead to increasingly grave consequences.
