Driver facing charges after insecure load falls off truck and strikes OPP cruiser on Hwy. 417
Ontario Provincial Police say a driver was pulled over for having an insecure load while driving on Hwy. 417 near Moodie Drive. (OPP/X) An Ottawa driver is facing multiple charges, including for having an insecure load, after tile flew off a truck and struck a police cruiser in Ottawa's west end. An Ontario Provincial Police officer attempted to stop a driver pulling a trailer on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive due to concerns about the insecurity of the load. Const. Michael Fathi said that while attempting to pull over a vehicle, a piece of tile flew off the trailer, 'striking and causing minor damage to the cruiser.' The driver is facing several charges, including having an insecure load, using not authorized licence plates and failing to produce a permit for the vehicle and trailer. The plates were also seized.

Suspended G1 driver found with improper plates, no insurance on Hwy. 417
Ontario Provincial Police say the driver of this van pulled over on Hwy. 417 had a G1 licence that was suspended, improper plates and no insurance. (OPP/X) Ontario Provincial Police say a driver is facing several charges after an officer's automatic licence plate reader (ALPR) noticed an issue with a van on Highway 417. The ALPR flagged the vehicle's licence plate as 'missing,' OPP said on social media. The driver was pulled over and police said the investigation revealed the driver only had a G1 licence that was also suspended. Police also said the vehicle was not insured. Drivers with G1 licences are not permitted to drive on 400-series highways. 'The driver faces a total of eight charges, including two counts of driving under suspension, operating a vehicle without insurance, use plates not authorized for the vehicle, and G1 licence violations,' the OPP said. The vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
