If you're considering alternatives, the JBL Tune 720BT headphones might be on your radar. Available for £39.99 on the JBL website (RRP £69.99), they boast a 4.4 star rating from 219 reviews. Or perhaps the Sony WH CH520 is more your style, these are priced at £34.99 on the John Lewis website and have proved incredibly popular, boasting a 4.60 out of 5 star rating from a significant 1752 reviews. But if it's the Q20i you're after, you're not alone, it's currently rated 4.6 out of 5 stars from over 18,000 reviews on Amazon. One positive review noted: "These are good quality headphones, they look premium and the build quality is definitely solid". They also found that: "To enhance the variety of sound you can download the soundcore app and this gives options for more audio presets". Summing up their experience, they said: "The sound quality is very good... it's crisp and clear with the bass and treble quality," concluding: "Overall a solid performance and worth the price." However, not everyone was satisfied, particularly regarding the bass performance. One user commented: "i bought these headphones because they specifically said they where bassy. This was not my experience. Very sharp in all modes." They felt that "when you change the presets it makes an 80s style sound which makes me feel they didn't put much effort for them to sound amazing," adding a common sentiment that "it's always the case that if you buy cheap or on a sale cheap you basically get what you've paid for." On a more practical note, another user found them to be "Comfy, good battery life and reliable Bluetooth connection." They stated that "The noise cancelling works well, and the audio quality is serviceable," though they did find the audio quality "quite poor" specifically for video games. A more concerning issue was highlighted by a reviewer who initially felt "really happy with them at first as they have good sound quality and strong bass for the price." However, they reported that "Unfortunately 20 days of use later the left speaker has become crackly rendering the headphones unusable." Despite some mixed feedback, a strong positive review simply stated, "Really impressed with these." They praised the "really comfortable design, clear sound and the noise cancellation is really good," concluding they were "a real bargain in my opinion, would recommend." Given the price point and the array of features on offer, including active noise cancellation and app customisation, the Soundcore Q20i seem to present a compelling option for those seeking capable over ear headphones on a budget.
