New mental health services for students in Hyde County
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The Trillium Health Resources signed an agreement with Hyde County Schools and Southeastern Integrated Care to offer mental health services to students.
The Student Services Team (SST) will offer referrals for outpatient therapy from a parent, school counselor social worker, principal, and others. Mental health therapists who are school based will meet with the students in private at the school locations after receiving parental permission. These treatments will be tailored to meet the child's needs based on clinical assessment. Telehealth services will be also offered if necessary.
'Integrating behavioral health support directly into schools ensures that studentsreceive the care they need in a familiar and accessible setting,' Director of Student Services with Hyde County Schools Nancy Leach said. 'While mental health care is valued by many in our county, for families dealing with the challenges of living in economic distress, such as food insecurity or economic instability, mental health care often feels like a luxury. Considering the current mental health crisis, strengthening the mental health support network within ourschools is the only way we will help our students develop the skills they need tothrive academically and beyond.'
This agreement will serve students ages 5 to 18.
