ACB summons KTR in Formula E case, he says will appear after his trip abroad
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday issued a fresh notice to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao, asking him to appear before the agency in the ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities in hosting 2023 Hyderabad ePrix as part of the 2022-23 Formula E World Championship. While Rao, known as KTR, has been asked to appear for questioning on May 28, the BRS leader conveyed his pre-planned travel commitments to the UK and US, and said he would not be able to do so. He said he would join once he was back in the city. 'As a law abiding citizen, will definitely cooperate with the agencies even though the case is nothing but pure political harassment,' the former minister wrote on his social media handle. The ACB has given me a notice to appear for an enquiry on the 28th of May in the Formula E case As a law abiding citizen, will definitely cooperate with the agencies even though the case is nothing but pure political harassment As I have planned to leave for the UK & USA for… — KTR (@KTRBRS) May 26, 2025 'As I have planned to leave for the UK & USA for multiple events much in advance, will appear in front of them the moment I come back. Informed the same to ACB Officials in writing. But I should appreciate Revanth Reddy for his thirst for political vendetta and the way he swings in any direction without any scruples, to achieve the same,' he added. Condemning the notice to KTR, his sister and party MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha took to her social media handle and wrote: 'I strongly condemn the malicious issuance of notices to @KTRBRS by Revanth Reddy's government, as a conspiracy to cover up their failures and divert attention from public issues. It is clear that the ACB notices have been issued as part of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's cunning political game'. 'The continuous issuance of notices to our party leaders clearly reveals a political ulterior motive behind it. KCR's soldiers have a history of enduring and standing firm, no matter how many difficulties anyone tries to create,' she added. Former minister T Harish Rao, a cousin of KTR, also responded. 'Mr @revanth_anumula Vendetta politics is a clear sign of insecurity. Fabricated cases won't stand in court or win public trust. We stand with KTR. Truth will prevail. Satyameva Jayate!' During the BRS government, KTR, who was the municipal administration minister, allegedly directed Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials to illegally transfer a sum of Rs 55 crore to UK-based Formula E Operations (FEO), without approvals or following procedures, for hosting the next edition of Hyderabad ePrix in February 2024. Hyderabad withdrew from the race after the Congress assumed office in December 2023. KTR appeared before ACB for questioning on January 9. In the same case, he was also questioned by the Enforcement Directorate on January 16.

Formula E case: ACB serves fresh notice on KTR to appear on May 28
Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigators on Monday served a fresh notice on BRS working president asking him to appear before the agency, as part of investigation in the Formula E case, on May 28. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now After receiving the notice, KTR expressed his inability to face the investigation due to his pre-planned commitments abroad. KTR, who was the municipal administration minister during the previous BRS regime, was questioned by ACB officials in Jan in connection with the case. The ACB had registered a case against him over alleged illegal transfer of 55 crore to UK-based Formula E Operations (FEO), most of them in foreign currency, without approvals, for conducting the race in Hyderabad in Feb 2024. The race was cancelled after the Congress govt assumed office in Dec 2023. " As a law-abiding citizen, I will definitely cooperate with the agencies even though the case is nothing but pure political harassment. As I have planned to leave for the UK and the US for multiple events much in advance, I will appear in front of them the moment I come back. I informed the same to ACB officials in writing," KTR said on 'X' on Monday. During the BRS regime, to host the second edition of the Formula E race, Hyderabad ePrix, the state govt had decided to sponsor the event since the first edition sponsor, Ace Nxt Gen, backed out refusing to sponsor the second edition. It was alleged that without following the laid-down procedures, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) transferred money to FEO on the alleged instructions of KTR and then senior officials of the municipal administration. Reacting to the development, BRS MLC K Kavitha condemned ACB for serving a notice on the party working president and her brother, KT Rama Rao.
