Crew Review, Week 12: "Hell Is Real"
The biggest regular season Crew game of the year is approaching with an archrival headed to town.
MLS record: 7-1-4, 25 points.
2nd in the East, 3rd in MLS.
On the field: The Crew eked out a true "this is what good teams do" 2-2 draw on the road against then-second place Philadelphia.
Columbus was largely outplayed, but Sean Zawadzki's equalizer in the 93rd minute helped steal a point.
Columbus travels to struggling Montréal on Wednesday at 7:30pm, while FC Cincinnati also visits Canada to play Toronto FC.
Then the focus is on " Hell Is Real" at Field at 7pm Saturday.
The rivalry is named after the infamous I-71 billboard situated between the two cities.
The intrigue: Both teams are even getting special jerseys with hell-inspired numbers designed by local artists.
The big picture: These teams don't like each other, but they're also among the best in MLS.
Cincinnati passed Columbus last weekend to sit atop the East, making for yet another rivalry game with a lot on the line.
Fun fact: If both take care of business in their midweek matches, Saturday will be the Crew's third match featuring the Eastern Conference's No. 1 and 2 teams in a six-game stretch.
What we're watching: Their respective stars are scorching hot.
