Monsta X to hold concerts in Korea, Japan in July

Monsta X announced via agency Starship Entertainment Thursday that it would hold its first full-member concerts in three years in July. Under the title 'Connect X,' the band is planning three days of shows in Seoul on July 18-20. The last day's live performance will be broadcast online as well. On Aug. 27-28, the group will hit the stage in Yokohama, Japan. The six members hinted at the concerts during a livestream on Wednesday to celebrate their 10th anniversary. They reunited after everyone, except the youngest, I.M, completed serving their mandatory military duty, including Hyungwon who was discharged on the previous day. Monsta X dropped digital compilation album 'Now Project Vol. 1' to mark the milestone, re-recording previously published songs to add the voices of members who could not join for the originals.

Monsta X to drop digital album to mark 10th year

Monsta X will roll out a digital compilation album on May 14, in time for its tenth debut anniversary, agency Starship Entertainment said Tuesday. 'Now Project Vol. 1" will consist of ten tracks, released between 2021 and 2023 while the members completed their military service, that have been rerecorded to feature all six members. The band of six will return as a full group when Hyungwon is discharged on Tuesday. Everyone except the youngest member I.M will have completed their mandatory service. Monsta X debuted with EP 'Trespass' in 2015, and its last album was the 12th mini album 'Reason' in January 2023. Gearing up for its full group return, it launched a fan communication channel in April and an original show last week.

Blackpink's Jisoo tops iTunes chart in 39 regions with solo EP

Jisoo of Blackpink debuted atop the iTunes Top Albums Chart in 39 regions with her first solo EP 'Amortage,' agency Blissoo said Monday. The four-track album garnered over 5 million plays on Spotify on its release day and sold over 385,000 copies in one day, a record for a K-pop solo artist this year. The music video for the main track, 'Earthquake,' amassed more than 19 million views in three days after charting No. 1 on YouTube's trending music video list. Jisoo cited Britney Spears as her inspiration, singling out the music video for 'Baby One More Time' in an interview with Billboard magazine saying: 'I love that pop vibe, and I always say, 'I want to shoot something with that kind of energy.'' After promoting the new album, she will tour seven cities in Asia for her first solo fan meetup tour. I.M of Monsta X is set to go live again in Japan, according to agency Sony Music Entertainment Korea on Monday. He will host 'Off The Beat Final in Japan' in Tokyo and Osaka on April 4-5 and 11-12, respectively, taking to the stage twice each day. The encore gig comes after the one he held in Seoul last month as the original conclusion of his tour that spanned 18 cities in 10 countries. In the meantime, Monsta X is expected to return as a full group soon. Jooheon completed his mandatory military service in January, and so Kihyun will be discharged next week. Hyungwon will complete serving his duty in May in time for the band's 10th debut anniversary. I.M, the youngest of the five-member act, has yet to enlist.
