Continuing indirect negotiations with US is unjustified: Iranian foreign minister
TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stressed that continuing indirect negotiations with the United States is "unjustified" in light of Israel's continued aggression against Iran.
"The IAEA Board of Governors' resolution on Iran's nuclear program, which was jointly proposed by three European countries and the United States, served as a pretext for the Israeli entity's aggression against Iran's nuclear facilities," Araghchi was quoted as saying by the Iranian news agency IRNA during a phone call with EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas.
The call between the two sides also included an exchange of views on recent developments in the region following the Israeli attack on Iran.
During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that attacking peaceful nuclear facilities is illegal and strictly prohibited under international law, adding that the international community is obligated to hold Israel accountable for this unprecedented violation of the law.
It's worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman is scheduled to host the sixth round of talks between Iran and the United States on Iran's nuclear program on Sunday, as part of efforts to reach an agreement between the two sides.
