England announce squad for blockbuster first Test against India
All-rounder Jamie Overton earns a long-awaited recall to the England squad to face India in the first Test, having last featured in 2022.
Brydon Carse, Jacob Bethell and Chris Woakes have also been included, while Gus Atkinson misses out due to a hamstring injury sustained during the one-off Test against Zimbabwe last month.
Ben Stokes, who returned from a hamstring injury in that Zimbabwe Test, will lead England against India in a five-match series that marks the start of both teams' campaigns in the new ICC World Test Championship cycle.
