Pecatonica's State weekend begins as the Indians depart for Normal
PECATONICA, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The Pecatonica girls' basketball team is off to Normal, Illinois for IHSA State Tournament action. The girls departed Pecatonica High School early Wednesday afternoon on a chartered bus. That was after they paid a visit to the elementary school in Pecatonica for a quick good-bye sendoff from their young fans Indians know that they'll be playing two games in Normal this week. The first one will be Thursday morning. That's a Class 1A semifinal game that will tip-off at 11:15 against Elgin St. Edward. If they win that game, they'll play for the 1A state championship game Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. If they lose their semifinal game, they'll play in the 1A third place game Friday morning at 9: Indians have a record of 30-6. This is the first Pecatonica basketball team ever to reach the state tournament.
