TCL CSOT pushes the boundaries of IJP OLED, MLED and more at Display Week 2025
TCL CSOT made an appearance at SID Display Week 2025 and showed off a few massive advancements in its IJP OLED, MLED, and APEX technology. TCL CSOT is the B2B division of TCL, and they've been cooking up a lot of new advancements in display technology. Let's dig into what each of those are, the innovations TCL CSOT showed off at Display Week, and what it may indicate about the future of display technology. What is IJP OLED? Inkjet Printing OLED (IJP OLED) technology is a process for making OLED TVs. It uses a printer to deposit the organic materials in OLED panels, rather than the traditional method, which involves vacuum chambers and evaporation. The traditional method is time consuming and wasteful. IJP OLEDs, on the other hand, are faster and cause less waste. This could mean cheaper OLED TVs in the long run. TCL CSOT is the leading manufacturer of OLED panels using this process, and their announcements at SID Display Week 2025 showed some massive applications of the technology. In 2024, TCL CSOT mass-produced a 21.6-inch 4K OLED display using IJP technology. This weekend they showcased four new displays: a 6.5-inch smartphone display, a 14-inch tablet display, a 14-inch laptop display, a 27-inch monitor display, and a 65-inch TV display. This shows a huge jump in the capabilities of IJP OLED technology. TCL CSOT says they are continuing to scale the process up so that one day we will have full-size TVs manufactured using IJP. What is MLED? Micro LED (MLED) is a type of display technology that allows for finely controlled individual pixels. MLEDs produce their own light, allowing for individual pixel control, faster response times, better color gamut, and true blacks (because each pixel can turn off completely). TCL CSOT introduced some groundbreaking MLED tech at Display Week 2025. They showcased the world's smallest silicon-based MLED display: just 0.05-inches. It gets 256×86 resolution and a sharp pixel density, perfect for things like smart glasses. On the other end of the spectrum, TCL CSOT introduced a 219-inch MLED display. Large screens can struggle to maintain sharp picture and deep colors, but TCL CSOT's new MLED display has a 5760×1440 ultrawide resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and over 98% DCI-P3 color gamut. TCL CSOT introduced a few other fancy MLED advances, such as an ultra-bright display designed for use in cars, and a transparent MLED display with interesting prospects for alternate reality or museum exhibits. TCL CSOT is pushing the boundaries of what MLED can do, from tiny to massive and bright to invisible. What is APEX? If futuristic tech like IJP OLED and MLED makes your eyes glaze over, don't worry. TCL CSOT showed off some innovations with real world applications that are easy to understand. TCL CSOT's APEX initiative focuses on improving consumer displays ('A' for 'Amazing'), increasing comfort and safety ('P' for 'Protective'), making the technology and manufacturing process more sustainable ('E' for 'Eco-friendly'), and generally pushing the boundaries of display tech ('X' for 'Unlimited'). TCL CSOT showcased some of these new efforts at Display Week 2025. It included an LCD TV with the world's highest image quality, a mobile OLED display with 95% ultra-wide color gamut coverage, an LCD display that gets the full visible spectrum of natural sunlight (better for your eyes), and some displays with massive reductions in power use. These are some ways TCL CSOT is expanding the possibilities of display technology. It won't be long before we see these advancements in the screens of our home TVs, smartphones, wearable tech, and more.

TCL's Display Development Division Unveils New OLED And LED Advances—Including ‘World's Highest Image Quality LCD TV'
TCL's development and manufacturing division, TCL CSOT, has today unveiled a raft of new next-gen OLED and LED screen innovations, including bigger real-world IJP OLED's and a huge, ultra-wide aspect ratio Micro LED with 120Hz support. TCL CSOT's new innovations have all appeared as part of the company's showcase at SID Display Week 2025, a key global summit for the display industry. And while some of the exciting new developments TCL CSOT is exhibiting are currently still at 'proof of concept' stage rather than yet being full commercial realities, the hope has to be that they represent the latest steps towards at least some of these technologies eventually arriving in our living rooms. Getting into more detail first on the OLED highlights of TCL CSOT's SID 2025 appearance, it's showing not one but two world-first fully realized 14-inch Ink Jet Printed (IJP) displays: One 2.8k-resolution panel integrated into a Notebook display that combines oxide and IJP technologies to deliver faster response and higher brightness while simultaneously reducing material waste and lower production energy consumption; and one 1920x1200 resolution, ultra-thin glass panel built into a Pad-type display that delivers 99% DCI-P3 color coverage, carries an anti-glare coating and supports precise stylus support. Also claimed to be a world first is TCL CSOT's newly revealed IJP OLED Mobile Display, a 6.5-inch screen that uses a real RGB structure to achieve an 824 x 1833 resolution (which equates to a super-fine density of 326 pixels per inch), vivid color reproduction and fast motion rendering. TCL CSOT's latest Micro LED developments at SID 2025, meanwhile, are a tale of extremes. At one end of the spectrum is the world's smallest SI-Micro LED Display: a 0.05-inch silicon-based Micro LED screen that delivers 5080 pixels per inch and a claimed four million nits - yes, that's four million nits - of brightness. This is posited as a potentially spectacular future solution for next-gen wearables and micro projectors. At the other end of the scale, TCL CSOT has unveiled a mammoth 219-inch modular Micro LED display delivering a 5760x1440 resolution in an ultra-wide 36:9 aspect ratio with a 120Hz supported refresh rate. Or if someone needs brightness more than size, TCL CSOT is also showing off a 14.3-inch Micro LED PHUD display capable of punching out a remarkable 45,000 nits of peak module brightness. Aimed at the automotive industry, this ultra-bright display also boasts transparent projection and a wide field of view to enhance safety and user visibility on the road. TCL CSOT is additionally using SID 2025 to unveil a trio of new displays as part of its so-called APEX platform, which focuses on four pillars of: Visual quality, protecting visual 'wellness', promoting sustainable energy performance, and imaginative design. The most immediately interesting of these to home entertainment fans is what TCL CSOT describes as the 'World's Highest Image Quality LCD TV Display'. That's quite a claim, of course, and I haven't been able to see the screen myself to verify it, but I can confirm that it's a 98-inch Mini LED display that boasts 95% coverage of the BT 2020 color spectrum (which is much wider than the DCI-P3 spectrum most TVs and current HDR content targets), 0.8% ultra-low reflectance and a 178-degree viewing angle. Also on show as part of the APEX scheme is the world's first natural-spectrum slim pad display, a 12.1-inch tablet that uses natural spectrum backlighting to combine eye-care benefits with enhanced brightness and slimness for portable productivity. And the final TCL CSOT APEX innovation to be revealed at SID 2025 is the World's Narrowest Splicing Dual-Curved Display: A 23.6-inch multi-panel screen designed for cars where each Mini LED panel features a mind-boggling 9589 local dimming zones, with just 1.0mm of gap between panels. This display's curved shape and a hidden wood-grain integration is claimed to deliver a more refined and immersive visual cabin experience, too. If you're involved in the display industry and want to see all these TCL CSOT innovations for yourself (and if you do, let me know if you think the 98-inch TV on show really does deliver the World's Highest LCD TV Image Quality!), SID 2025 is running until May 15 at the San Jose Convention Center. — Related Reading TCL Unveils New High Performance Mini LED TV With Bang & Olufsen Sound TCL Announces Mini LED TVs With New HVA Panels And Halo Control Technology TCL Launches Its First Portable Home Entertainment Projector
