Police nab two suspected drug pushers in Mukah
Police conduct a search on a suspect during the operation. MUKAH (June 8): Two foreigners, believed to be drug pushers operating in the Mukah town area, were arrested in front of a shop building in Jalan Boulevard Setiaraja, here at around 8pm last night. Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, in a statement, said the suspects were apprehended during an operation conducted by the Mukah District Police Headquarters' (IPD Mukah) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, following intelligence and surveillance efforts. 'During the operation, two male suspects were detained and searched. Police found three transparent plastic packets containing crystal-like substances were found on the first suspect, while one packet was discovered on the second suspect. 'The substances are believed to be methamphetamine (syabu),' he said, adding that the confiscated drugs weighed 10.30g with an estimated street value of RM1,150. Muhamad Rizal noted that the suspects, aged 38 and 54, were reportedly working as labourers at a palm oil plantation. 'They were taken to IPD Mukah for further investigation, with urine tests confirming negative results for drug use.' He said the suspects have been remanded for four days until June 12, and the case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. 141 vehicles inspected, 10 summonses issued in Mukah crime prevention operation
A car undergoing a thorough check during the integrated crime prevention operation that lasted until 2am on Thursday morning. MUKAH (May 24): A total of 141 vehicles were inspected and 10 traffic summonses were issued during a crime prevention operation conducted by Mukah District Police (IPD Mukah) recently. The integrated operation, known as Op Bersepadu Cegah Jenayah, was carried out from 9pm on May 21 until 2am on Thursday (May 22), focusing on areas under the jurisdiction of the Selangau Police Station. Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the operation involved 17 officers and personnel from various divisions. 'The objective of this operation was to curb criminal activities such as vehicle theft, house break-ins and cable theft,' he said when contacted today. He said that the operation utilised several approaches including roadblocks, surprise inspections on suspicious vehicles, and mobile patrols. 'During the operation, 141 vehicles of various types were checked, resulting in the issuance of 10 traffic summonses for various offences,' he added.
