IPL 2025 final: How many titles have the RCB squad members won with other teams? All you need to know
Royal Challengers Bengaluru play Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad on June 3 (Tuesday). RCB are playing an IPL final for the first time since 2016. Rajat Patidar, the current RCB captain, made his IPL debut only in 2021. RCB may have won zero IPL titles, but the squad members have won plenty of IPL titles with other teams. Player Titles and finals Virat Kohli 0 (4th IPL final - 2009, 2011, 2016, 2025) Phil Salt 1 (Kolkata Knight Riders - 2024) Rajat Patidar 0 (Maiden IPL final) Mayank Agarwal 0 (3rd IPL final, 2011, 2017, 2025) Jitesh Sharma 0 (Maiden IPL final) Romario Shepherd 0 (Maiden IPL final) Tim David 0 (Maiden IPL final) Liam Livingstone 0 (Maiden IPL final) Krunal Pandya 3 (Mumbai Indians - 2015, 2017, 2019) Suyash Sharma 1 (Kolkata Knight Riders - 2024) Yash Dayal 1 (Gujarat Titans - 2022) Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1 (Sunrisers Hyderabad - 2016) Josh Hazlewood 1 (Chennai Super Kings - 2021) Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the purple cap in 2016. His tight bowling in the final against RCB was invaluable. He conceded just 25 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of 6.25. In a chase of 209, RCB scored 25 runs off Bhuvneshwar Kumar's four overs and smashed 175 runs in the other 16 overs. Krunal Pandya was the player of the match in the final of IPL 2017. Josh Hazlewood was the best bowler for CSK in the 2021 final. Yash Dayal provided the first breakthrough in the 2022 final in Ahmedabad, the venue for this year's final. His stocks have gone up after bowling a stellar final over to MS Dhoni in two consecutive seasons. Suyash Sharma played only two matches in 2024 for KKR and failed to take a single wicket. Yet, it doesn't matter. He has the experience of being a part of a title-winning squad. Virat Kohli was the player of the match in the final of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa. Kohli scored 75 off 59 and was adjudged the player of the match in Barbados. He also scored a vital 35 off 49 balls in the 2011 final against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. Mayank Agarwal captained Punjab Kings in 2022. Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma represented PBKS till IPL 2024. Can the RCB bowlers use their title-winning know-how to finally end the championship drought?
Batters win you matches; bowlers win you tournaments. If anyone wants to dispute this statement, mention one name: Jasprit Bumrah. The one common criticism about Royal Challengers Bengaluru is their inability to form a tournament-winning bowling attack. They always possessed batting quality. Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers formed the batting core for a large part of the previous decade. Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell carried the legacy in the recent seasons. Virat Kohli remained a constant in all those years. The IPL 2025 mega auction witnessed a marked change in RCB's auction strategy. The RCB think tank went for less glamorous, yet proven and effective performers. Josh Hazlewood doesn't get as much praise as Pat Cummins or Mitchell Starc. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is perceived to be a bowler who has passed his prime. Krunal Pandya won't make it to the list of three best left-arm spinners in the league. Suyash Sharma may not make it to the list of top 20 spinners in the league. Yash Dayal's name may not occur to many fans if they are asked to list the best left-arm pacers in the country. RCB retained Yash Dayal and bought the other four players in the mega auction. The aforementioned five bowlers have the experience of winning IPL title with five different teams. Player Title winning year Team Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2016 Sunrisers Hyderabad Krunal Pandya 2017, 2019, 2020 Mumbai Indians Josh Hazlewood 2021 Chennai Super Kings Yash Dayal 2022 Gujarat Titans Suyash Sharma 2024 Kolkata Knight Riders Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the purple cap in 2016. His tight bowling in the final against RCB was invaluable. He conceded just 25 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of 6.25. Yet, it doesn't matter. He has the experience of being a part of a title-winning squad. The pressure of the RCB management and the angst of its passionate fans to end the title drought need not be experienced by these bowlers. The entire attack has the know-how, and most importantly, the happy memory of holding the IPL trophy. All they have to do is turn up and do the job for one last time. The RCB faithful will be indebted to them forever. Stay updated on all the action from theIPL 2025. Check theIPL 2025 Schedule, and follow the top performers with theOrange Cap andPurple Cap.

Rajasthan Royals' Fazalhaq Farooqi creates unwanted record in IPL 2025
Fazalhaq Farooqi In a challenging season for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi has found himself in the spotlight for an unfortunate reason in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Over the course of four matches in the IPL 2025 season, Farooqi has bowled a total of 17 overs without claiming a single wicket, conceding 210 runs in the process with an high economy rate of 12.35. It is the most by a bowler without taking any wickets in the IPL history. Previous record was held by Ishant Sharma in IPL 2017. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Bombay Sport Exchange Ep 5: Shane Watson on IPL, India-Australia rivalry | Part 1 Despite this rough patch, it's worth noting that Farooqi has had significant success in other tournaments. He was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup and recorded the best bowling figures in ILT20 history with a 5/16 performance against Dubai Capitals in January 2025. Earlier, Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh struck fine half-centuries to rescue Punjab Kings and help them to a competitive 219 for 5 against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. PBKS, currently on 15 points and in a good position to make the playoffs, were reduced to 34/3 in only the fourth over with RR's right-arm pacer Tushar Deshpande (2/37) getting rid of openers Priyansh Arya (9) and Prabhsimran Singh (21). Who's that IPL player? But Wadhera blazed to a 37-ball 70, studded with five boundaries and as many sixes, and shared a 67-run fourth-wicket partnership with skipper Shreyas Iyer (30) to bail PBKS out. Wadhera, who struck his third half-century of the season, was also involved in a 58-run fifth-wicket stand with Shashank Singh (59 not out, 30 balls).. A fit-again Sanju Samson was back to lead Rajasthan Royals and replaced Nitish Rana in the XI. Kwena Maphaka was drafted in place of Jofra Archer. Shreyas Iyer to Steve Smith: Players who captained three teams in IPL history
From Shreyas Iyer to Steve Smith, a select few players have had the unique experience of leading three different franchises in IPL history. Here's a quick look at these versatile leaders and their journeys across teams. Shreyas Iyer began his IPL captaincy stint with Delhi Capitals in 2018 and later led KKR, even guiding them to the 2024 title. Surprisingly released after the win, Iyer was snapped up by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction and named captain. So far, he's led them with purpose—and the team has looked sharp under his leadership. Ajinkya Rahane is another familiar name on this list. The veteran Indian batter had a short captaincy spell with Rising Pune Supergiant, leading them in just one match in IPL 2017. He later took charge of Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Now in IPL 2025, Rahane is leading the Kolkata Knight Riders, bringing his calm leadership style to a new chapter in his IPL journey. Steve Smith has had a memorable run as an IPL captain, having led teams like Rajasthan Royals, Pune Warriors, and Rising Pune Supergiant. His most notable stint came with RPS, where he guided the team to the IPL 2017 final. Despite his strong leadership record and cricketing pedigree, Smith has surprisingly remained unsold in IPL mega-auctions since 2022, leaving fans wondering if the league has seen the last of him. Mahela Jayawardene brought his calm leadership to three IPL teams during his playing days—Punjab Kings, Kochi Tuskers, and Delhi Capitals. Now, the Sri Lankan legend continues to leave his mark on the league as the head coach of Mumbai Indians, guiding them to three IPL titles and cementing his legacy off the field as well. Before hanging up his boots in the IPL, Kumar Sangakkara led three franchises—Punjab Kings, Deccan Chargers, and Sunrisers Hyderabad—bringing his trademark elegance and calm to each side. While his playing days are over, Sangakkara continues to shape the league from behind the scenes, now serving as the director of cricket for Rajasthan Royals.
