The match was relocated to Ahmedabad due to military tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to tournament schedule revisions and changes in playoff venues. The playoff stages began with Qualifier 1 between PBKS and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, followed by Eliminator 1 between Gujarat Titans and MI in Mullanpur. The remaining matches, including Qualifier 2 and the final, were subsequently moved to Ahmedabad. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The BCCI and IPL Governing Council have implemented additional time provisions to address potential rain interruptions. The playing conditions now include an extra hour to complete the match if weather disruptions occur. "Similar to the playoffs stage, an additional one hour will be allocated to the playing conditions for the remaining matches of the league stage, starting Tuesday, 20 May," states the BCCI announcement earlier in the season. The IPL Playing Conditions, specifically Clause 13.7.3 regarding extra time, provides detailed guidelines: "Where the start of play is delayed or play is suspended for any reason then extra time of… up to one hundred and twenty minutes for any of the play-off matches (shall be available)." Mahela Jayawardene on Rohit Sharma: 'You cannot replace the experience' The playing conditions further elaborate: "For the avoidance of doubt, if extra time is required to be used, it will be taken in the following sequence. In the event of a delayed start or interruption, the provision of… one hundred and twenty minutes for play-off matches extra time is to be used first, followed by the time allocated for time-outs and then the reduction in the innings change interval (if applicable)." Additional clarification is provided regarding Super Over scenarios: "For clarity, the changeover period (maximum 10 mins) for a Super Over after the main match is not to be taken into account when applying any permitted extra time available." Is there a reserve day for IPL 2025 Qualifier 2? The match arrangements currently do not include a reserve day provision for the second qualifier. The tournament organisers have confirmed that only the final has a designated reserve day in case of weather interruptions.

What Happens If IPL Qualifier 2 Between PBKS Vs MI Is Washed Out?

Last Updated: IPL 2025 Qualifier 2, PBKS Vs MI: The race for the last spot in the final is on as Punjab Kings take on Mumbai Indians at Ahmedabad. The stage is set for the second qualifier, where the Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians will clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. PBKS will strive for their first final appearance since 2014, while Mumbai Indians will have their sights set on a sixth IPL title. The playoff stages commenced with Qualifier 1 (PBKS vs RCB) and Eliminator 1 (GT vs MI) at the Mullanpur Stadium in Mohali. The remaining fixtures, including Qualifier 2 and the final, were moved to Ahmedabad. The final was originally scheduled for Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, home ground of the previous year's champions, Kolkata Knight Riders. However, escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan led to the tournament's suspension and a revised schedule with altered playoff venues. Weather forecasts suggest a minimal chance of rain, with predicting a 24 per cent probability. However, if the match is abandoned due to rain, the team higher in the points table will progress. In this scenario, it would be the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings, who finished the league stage at the top with 19 points and a superior net run-rate compared to their closest rivals, Royal Challengers Bangalore. Extra-Time Provisions in Place for Rain Delay Should rain disrupt the game, the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have allocated an extra hour to the playing conditions, providing more time for the teams to complete the match. 'Similar to the playoffs stage, an additional one hour will be allocated to the playing conditions for the remaining matches of the league stage, starting Tuesday, 20 May," the BCCI statement noted. Clause 13.7.3 of the IPL Playing Conditions, addressing extra time, states: 'Where the start of play is delayed or play is suspended for any reason then extra time of… up to one hundred and twenty minutes for any of the play-off matches (shall be available)." 'For the avoidance of doubt, if extra time is required to be used, it will be taken in the following sequence. In the event of a delayed start or interruption, the provision of… one hundred and twenty minutes for play-off matches extra time is to be used first, followed by the time allocated for time-outs and then the reduction in the innings change interval (if applicable)." 'For clarity, the changeover period (maximum 10 mins) for a Super Over after the main match is not to be taken into account when applying any permitted extra time available." It is important to note that no official statement has been issued regarding a reserve day for the second qualifier. Currently, only the final has a provision for a reserve day. Did Axar Patel's blunder cost Delhi Capitals for not appealing against Virat Kohli obstructing the field?

Virat Kohli carved out yet another crucial half-century, his sixth in the ongoing IPL 2025 season, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their sixth straight win away from home. RCB beat Delhi Capitals by six wickets to go top of the table, as they now stand on the verge of making the playoffs yet again. But the result could have probably been different had Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel acted against Kohli obstructing the field during RCB's chase. It happened on the first ball of the over after the powerplay when the visitors at the Arun Jaitley Stadium when Vipraj Nigam came on to bowl. RCB were already three down in the first six overs after Axar removed both debutant Jacob Bethell and Devdutt Padikkal, before captain Rajat Patidar fell victim to a stunning run-out from Karun Nair. Kohli, then on 15 off 14, tucked away the slider from Nigam to mid-wicket. Kuldeep Yadav collected it quickly, thus denying a single, and then threw it back to the wicketkeeper KL Rahul. However, Kohli stuck his hand out and caught ball, and returned it to the bowler for the next delivery. Kuldeep instantly appealed, albeit jokingly, and hence none paid heed to it. Had Axar considered the appeal, or if any other team member had joined Kuldeep, Kohli's knock would have probably ended there. The ball was still technically in play because neither did it land in the wicketkeeper's gloves, nor would have Delhi considered it as having ceased to be in play. According to clause 37.4 of the IPL Playing Conditions, "Either batter is out Obstructing the field if, at any time while the ball is in play and, without the consent of a fielder, he uses the bat or any part of his person to return the ball to any fielder." This is not the first time Kohli has survived such a dismissal scare. Earlier in the Champions Trophy this year, he had intercepted a ball while batting in the match against Pakistan, which left commentator Sunil Gavaskar reminding that "lucky nobody appealed". Kohli not only completed his fifty, but he was also part of a crucial 119-run partnership with Krunal Pandya, who clobbered five fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 73 from 47 deliveries. RCB, now sitting at the top of the standings, will look to maintain their winning form as the tournament heads towards the playoffs.

CSK vs SRH: Ravindra Jadeja fails bat size test, hilariously slams it to reshape

Ravindra Jadeja became the latest player to fail the mandatory bat size test during Chennai Super Kings' IPL 2025 home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Friday, April 25. Jadeja walked in to bat at No. 4 during the powerplay, and the on-field umpire immediately approached him to check his bat bat failed to pass through the house-shaped gauge, leaving the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder slightly embarrassed. In a humorous moment, Jadeja slammed the bat on the ground in an attempt to resize it so it would fit through the gauge. However, his efforts were in vain, as the bat still didn't pass the test. | CSK vs SRH - Coverage |advertisementThe umpire then asked him to change the bat. Jadeja quickly signalled to the Super Kings' dressing room, calling for a replacement bat, which successfully passed the size test. Jadeja is not the first batter to fail the bat size test in IPL 2025.
