State officials meet Spain team over investments

Ranchi: Jharkhand govt and Embassy of Spain on Monday held a high-level meeting to advance strategic cooperation in trade, investment, innovation, and institutional collaboration. On behalf of the state, the meeting was led by secretary industries, Arava Raj Kamal. While from the Embassy of Spain, it was led by Chief Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Lucia Paternina at Jharkhand Bhawan, Delhi. "The dialogue was a follow-up to the CM's recent visit to Spain and focused on translating strategic outcomes into structured partnerships," read a statement from state IPRD department. The meeting covered key areas of collaboration including industrial investment, clean energy, exhibition infrastructure, mining technology, and tourism. State govt proposed the finalization of a formal MoU and the establishment of a Spain–Jharkhand Coordination Cell to facilitate long-term cooperation. Special emphasis was laid on co-branding opportunities with Spain at upcoming summits and conferences, along with a proposed delegation visit by Spanish business and cultural representatives to Ranchi later this year. The two sides also explored collaboration between educational institutions and govt bodies for capacity building, skill development, and cultural exchange. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to fast-tracking institutional frameworks that will support investment, innovation, and people-to-people ties between Spain and Jharkhand.

Govt: Over 4,800 km rural roads built in last fiscal

Patna: With a view to improving connectivity, the rural works department (RWD) constructed 1,843 rural roads and 852 bridges in the last financial year. The total length of constructed roads was 4,818.36 km. According to details shared by the information and public relations department (IPRD), the RWD gave administrative approval for constructing 2,024 rural roads (5,250.62 km) and 1,211 bridges in the last financial year. "Out of this, 1,843 roads and 852 bridges were constructed in the last financial year," it said. Stating that the picture of villages is changing with improved rural connectivity, the report said the construction of roads and bridges not only facilitates transportation but also provides easier access to local trade, job creation, education, health, and social services. The report said out of 542 roads sanctioned for Patna division, 493 were completed, while in Tirhut division, 266 (out of 301) were built. Similarly, altogether 117 roads were constructed in Saran division, 102 in Purnia, 49 in Bhagalpur, 248 in Magadh, 223 in Darbhanga, 82 in Kosi, and 266 in Munger. A large number of bridges were also constructed in these divisions in the last financial year. In the current fiscal, the rural works dept has allocated a budget of Rs 991 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund with the focus to improve rural connectivity.
