Monastir-Habib Bourguiba Airport aims to welcome 1.83 million passengers in 2025
Monastir-Habib Bourguiba Airport anticipates a significant increase in air traffic by 2025, with projections to handle 1.83 million passengers across 12,681 flights, according to Adel Migaou, the airport's operations director for 'TAV' company. This forecast was shared during a periodic meeting of tourism professionals focused on preparations for the 2025 tourist season. Migaou noted that this projection represents an increase compared to 2024, when the airport recorded 1.63 million passengers and 11,516 flights. Migaou highlighted that August 2024 marked the peak of activity, with expectations of a 10% rise in arrivals for the same month in 2025. The airport has managed flights from 22 countries, with France leading the list, followed by Germany, Poland, Romania, Greece, and Serbia. The number of airlines operated at Monastir, including 'Nouvel Air,' 'Transavia,' 'Air France,' and 'Tunisair' reached 26 in 2024. Additionally, Migaou announced a 30-million-dinar investment plan aimed at modernizing the airport's infrastructure. The projects include rehabilitating the runway and nine aircraft parking areas, replacing seven lighting columns, and upgrading air conditioning, ventilation systems, and passenger restrooms. Maintenance work, including the restoration of the original roof and ceilings in the check-in and departure areas, is set to begin in April and next week, respectively. Finally, the renovation of the airport's façade is underway, with the first phase 10-15% complete and expected to finish in 45 days. The entire project is slated for completion by the last quarter of 2025. Monastir-Habib Bourguiba Airport, already certified with ISO 9001:2015 for quality management and ISO 10002:2018 for complaint handling, has also achieved carbon certification for reducing its environmental footprint.
