IT Welcome to Derry teaser OUT: Bill Skarsgard all set to grace screens as killer clown Pennywise, once again
The teaser for IT: Welcome to Derry, the much-anticipated prequel to the hit horror films IT and IT: Chapter Two, is finally out. Set 27 years before the events of the original movies, the HBO and Warner Bros. Television series delves into the terrifying history of Derry, Maine — and the previous reign of the murderous entity known as "It." Bill Skarsgard reprises his chilling role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, the central figure of fear in the story. The new series also stars Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso. Fans immediately took to social media to express what they feel about the teaser trailer of IT: Welcome to Derry. One user wrote, 'Ahhh it looks good,' while another person wrote, 'we all float down here, fam.' A third person wrote, 'Looks great, not cheap at all. Promising.' Fan reactions to IT: Welcome to Derry teaser. Andy Muschietti, who directed the IT films, is back on board with his sister and producing partner Barbara Muschietti to expand the world of Stephen King's iconic horror novel. 'This is a book we love a lot, and we felt that there was still a lot of story to be covered,' the Muschiettis told Entertainment Weekly. 'It's so rich with characters and events, we thought we would do justice to the book and the fans by going back into this world. Specifically, we are telling the stories of the interludes, writings by Mike Hanlon based on his investigation that includes interviews he conducts with the older people in the town." They added, 'In Welcome to Derry, we touch on the usual themes that were talked about in the movie — friendship, loss, the power of unified belief — but this story focuses also on the use of fear as a weapon, which is one of the things that is also relevant to our times.' The series is created by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. All three serve as executive producers, alongside Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Bill Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee and Dan Lin. Fuchs, who wrote the teleplay for the first episode, is also co-showrunner with Kane. The series is scheduled to be released in 2025 on HBO with nine episodes. IT: Welcome to Derry promises to bring fans back into the nightmare — one that started long before the Losers' Club ever came together. The release date of the show is yet to be announced.

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Into every generation a new Slayer is born, and now we know who the next Slayer will be. Reported by Deadline, Sarah Michelle Gellar will be joined in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" sequel series by Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The 15-year-old Armstrong's credits include the 2022 "Firestarter" reboot, "IT: Chapter Two", and the "Star Wars" series "Skeleton Crew". Getty In the caption of the video, Gellar writes, "I want to introduce you to @ryankarmstrong From the moment I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room. Welcome to #NewSunnydale #btvs." The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot has an order for a pilot from Hulu, which will be directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao and written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. "We are so overjoyed to have found this generation's slayer in Ryan Kiera Armstrong, she absolutely blew us away — there is no question in our mind that she is the chosen one," writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman said about the casting. Very little is known about Armstrong's character, only that she is an introverted high school student. Previous reports suggested the Slayer's name would be Nova and she would have a pair of friends - Hugo and Gracie. Hugo was described as an "out and proud" nerd from a wealthy family, while Gracie was described as an acolyte of Gellar's Buffy. However, Gellar later debunked these reports, calling them "fake." Whoever Armstrong plays, her character won't exactly be facing the same kind of world her predecessor did. In the original "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" series, there was only ever supposed to be one Slayer at any given time (though eventually there would be two). However, in the series finale, that changed. Thanks to a magic spell, every girl in the world who had the potential to become a Slayer would become one. So, eventually, Armstrong's character might find herself dealing with more Slayers than Buffy ever did.
