Woman Can't Cope After Seeing What Cleaner Did to Dog's Steps: 'Excuse Me?'

Willie Nelson, aka Willie the dachshund, lives in Colorado with his owner Piet Dayney, 29, who describes the one-year-old pup as "the sweetest" dog "with so much personality." Thanks to his small size—the breed has an average height of just nine inches, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC)—Dayney has made changes to her home to ensure he can get everywhere easily. This includes a special ramp or stairs that helps Willie climb up on the sofa to cuddle with his owner whenever he likes, with Dayney explaining: "We always use stairs for him since dachshunds are prone to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), a back issue, so he's used to them." Piet Dayney notices her dachshund, Willie, staring her down. Piet Dayney notices her dachshund, Willie, staring her down. TikTok @its_williethecoween But when Dayney hired a cleaner to spruce up the home, Willie was left outraged when his special stairs suddenly led to nowhere. In a video to her TikTok account, @its_willithecoween on April 15, viewed more than 1.4 million times, Dayney showed Willie standing up, making intense eye contact with her. As she moved closer, it was revealed Willie was standing on his special stairs, but it had been moved to the side of the sofa, leading nowhere, and making him unable to jump up on the furniture. "When our cleaner forgot to put his couch stairs back," Dayney wrote over the video, alongside the caption: "Ummm... excuse me? Couch please?" She explained to Newsweek: "I just walked in on him being baffled he couldn't make it up to his napping spot since they weren't in their usual space. "He clearly made eye contact to tell me he was ready for them to move!" TikTok users loved it, awarding the video more than 90,000 likes, as one commenter wrote: "Not the stairs to nowhere." "I'm not arriving where this usually takes me," another joked. Willie stands on his stairs, which are leading to nowhere after the cleaner moved them away from the sofa. TikTok @its_williethecoween Others shared their own stories, one recalling moving their dog's stairs to vacuum, and their pet "ran up to them and right off the end like a cartoon character. Poor girl was shocked." "I moved our ramp to clean the floor and forgot to put it back. The oldest dachshund barked and I walked in to all 5 lined up on the ramp to no where," another laughed. Stairs or a ramp for dogs can be beneficial for multiple reasons, including for senior or arthritic dogs, small dogs, and breeds prone to back issues, including dachshunds who can develop IVDD, where changes occur to the protective material around the spinal cord, according to the AKC. ALPCO Announces the European Commercial Launch of FDA 510(k) Cleared Calprotectin Immunoturbidimetric Assay and Patient Enrollment in Pivotal US Clinical Trial for Automated Chemiluminescent Version

SALEM, N.H., May 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- American Laboratory Products Company, Ltd. ("ALPCO"), a global provider of specialty diagnostic solutions, announced the European commercial launch of its Calprotectin Immunoturbidimetric Assay, expanding its portfolio of gastrointestinal (GI) diagnostic solutions globally. The assay, which received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2023 and IVDD certification in 2022, is intended for in vitro diagnostic use to aid in the diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)—including Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC)—and to help differentiate IBD from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) when used alongside other clinical and laboratory findings. With a clinical sensitivity of 90.5% and specificity of 93.4%, the test offers high diagnostic accuracy and a low false positive rate. This enables healthcare providers to efficiently prioritize patients for colonoscopy, supporting faster diagnoses and more targeted care decisions. In addition to expanding its offerings to the European market, ALPCO confirmed the first patient enrolled in its pivotal clinical trial for US FDA clearance of an automated chemiluminescent version of ALPCO's leading calprotectin assay, designed for use on the KleeYa™ system. ALPCO completed the FDA pre-submission process in March 2025, with clinical trial enrollment beginning in April. The company's calprotectin assays have been integral to ALPCO's success in the GI market and the chemiluminescent platform represents a significant advancement in automation, aiming to provide clinical laboratories with a streamlined, efficient, and scalable solution for calprotectin testing. "We're thrilled to deliver a high-throughput GI test that is compatible with existing clinical chemistry analyzers while preserving accurate differentiation between IBD and IBS," said Erik Allen, CEO of ALPCO (A NuvinkaDx company). "In parallel, we're advancing our mission to deliver GI diagnostic solutions with greater automation and accuracy to clinical labs in the US." This dual milestone—the European launch and the start of the pivotal US trial—underscores ALPCO's commitment to innovation and leadership in GI diagnostics. About ALPCO and NuvinkaDx ALPCO was founded in 1991 as an importer and distributor of immunoassay-based products for the North American life science markets. The company has since evolved into a leading producer of novel immunodiagnostic reagents for specialty testing laboratories. In 2022, ALPCO merged with GeneProof, a Czech Republic-based provider of specialty molecular diagnostic solutions. Founded in 2005, GeneProof offers a portfolio of more than 50 IVDD and 6 IVDR PCR test kits for infectious diseases and genetic mutations, as well as a suite of proprietary instrumentation for clinical laboratories of all sizes. In 2024 the holdings company for both organizations rebranded to NuvinkaDx. For additional information, please visit and View original content to download multimedia: SOURCE ALPCO

Dachshund's Happy Prance While Using Wheelchair for First Time Is the Cutest Thing We've Ever Seen

It's never easy watching your pet heal from an injury, and sometimes, the journey back to health takes longer than planned. During the stress of it all, time seems to slow down while you find new ways to comfort your baby. Oliver the Dachshund is healing from a disc-related disease that has him spending a lot of time resting. But now that he's getting better, his new wheelchair lets him see the world again, and he couldn't be more grateful. To fully appreciate the Dachshund's gleeful stroll, we need to roll it back to what he's been through. The sweet pup is in his 9th week of recovery since an IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) flare-up. The neurological condition, as PetMD explains, is specific to "the spinal cord, vertebrae, or back bones, and the disc material between each vertebra," and occurs when "the cushioning discs between the bones of the spinal column either bulge or burst into the space containing the spinal cord." It's painful, causing nerve damage and even paralysis. The condition is more common among pups with long backs and short legs, like Oliver, who are prone to back injuries. His treatment plan has included crate and stroller rest, physical therapies, medical management with steroid injections, the use of a back sling to help with walking, acupuncture, laser therapy, and more. Getting a wheelchair gives Oliver the chance to take the walks he missed so much, even if he can't go as long or as far as he once did. Big Doxie brother, Frank, has been a great help, ever ready to lead the way on walk and in love."It's the ears flat back. Not a care in the world," one person wrote. "Lil baby is rolling hard," another added, while another joked, "Ears in 4x4, he is ready to go." He's come a long way, but it's his positive attitude that's lighting up the world. Oliver may still have a long road ahead of him but right now, things are starting to look up. Keep going, little man! 🐶🐾🐾
