Jeff Cobb Makes First Public Comments Since Leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling

This week, New Japan Pro-Wrestling confirmed the imminent departure of Jeff Cobb, which seemingly aligns with recent reports of WWE raising interest in signing Cobb to their promotion next. Advertisement The powerhouse performer has since taken to X (formerly Twitter) to address this development as well as the rumors surrounding it…sort of, anyway. 'Wow! Overwhelmed by the messages and support, and hate, it's very much appreciated!' Cobb wrote. 'So I just wanted to clear up any rumors and innuendos. Yes, it is in fact 100% true that the Monster Matanza Cueto, from Lucha Underground fame, was in FACT watching my matches from his cell and stealing them to use on the El Rey Network. But don't worry, I have contacted a wonderful lawyer in [Steve New] to rectify the situation! Thank you for the support in these trying times!' Last month, Cobb similarly skirted around the rumors of his future by instead pointing to another rumor, one that asserted he would beat Tetsuya Naito in the New Japan Cup (and in fact, he later did). Looking ahead, Cobb will wrestle in his final NJPW match on Saturday, April 19 in Korakuen Hall against Hiroshi Tanahashi. In the process, Cobb has vacated the IWGP Tag Team Championships, which he had held alongside Callum Newman since April 5.
