Make IYD celebrations a grand success: Lokesh to officials
Visakhapatnam: The International Yoga Day (IYD) celebration to be hosted in Visakhapatnam gains greater significance as the entire world is looking towards Visakhapatnam for the record to be achieved on the day, said HRD, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh. Speaking at a high-level review meeting held here on Tuesday, he appealed to the officials to make the coveted event a grand success sans any hassles. Lokesh mentioned that the event would witness about 5 lakh participants, and is going to create history as it would be the largest feat in the world. He called the political parties and officials to be committed and work in a coordinated manner despite their political affiliation. Lokesh mentioned that officials should take the responsibility of safety for the people who arrive at the venue and until they return home. The IT Minister instructed the officials to ensure that the people participating in the programme do not face any inconvenience. He said 247 compartments along the stretch of 26-km from RK Beach to Bheemili were being arranged and stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would reach the main venue at the RK Beach Kalimata temple at 6.30 am for the International Yoga Day celebrations scheduled on June 21. State-level nodal officer MT Krishna Babu briefed that a gazetted officer has been assigned to each compartment in the 247 compartments facilitated for the IYD so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He informed that those who have registered for the programme will be allowed into the designated compartments after scanning a QR code. He said that steps will be taken to allow those coming from far-off places from 2 am and a command control room would be set up to ensure that motorists do not face any traffic-related problems. Further, Krishna Babu mentioned that arrangements have been made to provide mats and T-shirts to all those attending the programme at the respective compartments. He informed that 3,500 RTC buses and 8,000 private and school buses will be facilitated for people participating from surrounding districts. Meanwhile, two technical institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State government as part of organising the IYD. In the presence of HRD Minister Nara Lokesh and other Ministers, officials from relevant institutions and State-level officials of the AYUSH department exchanged the MoUs. Union Minister for Civil Aviation K Rammohan Naidu, Social Welfare and District in-charge Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha, Anagani Satya Prasad, Gummadi Sandhya Rani, District Collector MN Harindhira Prasad, State and district-level officials and public representatives participated in the meeting. Accompanied by Ministers and officials, Lokesh visited a yoga training camp at AU grounds in Visakhapatnam.

127 compartments to be facilitated for IYD celebrations
Visakhapatnam: As Visakhapatnam, plays host to its first-ever dedicated state-level 'International Yoga Day' scheduled on June 21 this year, steps are on to facilitate compartments for scores of participants. About 26.5-km long venue is getting readied that stretches from Kalimata temple at RK Beach to Bheemunipatnam. In order to host the programme in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, AP Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, other state ministers are going to share the dais, about 127 compartments are getting arranged from RK Beach main venue to Bheemunipatnam. Even as the main venue will be from Kalimata Temple to YMCA, District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad informed in a review meeting that efforts are on to accommodate 1,000 participants in each compartment. Also, each compartment will have an in-charge, medical staff and 10 volunteers, a small stage, sound system and LED screens so that the viewers can watch the celebrations. About 1.24 lakh people will participate on the main road and the rest in 25 additional venues. As part of the safety precautions, officials engage lifeguards across the coastal area. In order to gain an entry into Guinness Book of Records, measures are considered to engage participants on the same platform without any disruption. Also, in coordination with various yoga associations, training sessions are facilitated in three different phases. As part of the event, District collector MN Harendhira Prasad explained to the ministers and other public representatives about the steps taken for the celebrations. The collector informed that in case of unexpected rain, alternative arrangements are made to ensure that the programme continues without any disruption. He said that anchors will be set up on the AU Engineering College grounds to accommodate the Prime Minister, Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other dignitaries, along with 10,000 people. The arrangements will be made available by June 12, he informed. Calling for a coordinated effort to achieve the world record, District in-charge Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy suggested that the programme should be conducted without disturbing the daily activities of the citizens. He urged people to be part of building a healthy, wealthy and happy Andhra Pradesh as envisaged by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha suggested that the state-level celebration of IYD that aims at promoting the holistic benefits of yoga for health, harmony and well-being should break all previous records. Also, she informed that 175 countries across the world will be part of the programme to be held in Visakhapatnam on June 21 and Visakhapatnam is set to draw their attention. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is participating as chief guest in the event. Ahead of the event, an army of officials take up elaborate arrangements at the main venue. Promoting holistic wellness through a month-long drive
Visakhapatnam: In a stress-laden life, embracing yoga as an integral part of life offers umpteen benefits. Emphasising it, district officials and public representatives flagged off a month-long 'Yogandhra-2025' campaign in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. Apart from highlighting the significance of leading a stress-free life by integrating yoga into one's daily routine, the officials underlined how Visakhapatnam is set to be placed on a global map with the event. 'The image of Visakhapatnam will go several notches up with the event as lakhs are expected to be part of it,' emphasised MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao and MLA PGVR Naidu (Ganababu). Along with them, Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao, Collector MN Harendhira Prasad, Joint Collector Mayur Ashok and City Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi demonstrated asanas marking the inaugural of the awareness drive. As a run-up to the International Yoga Day (IYD) celebrations scheduled on June 21 in Visakhapatnam, the month-long awareness drive to integrate a host of activities. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit Visakhapatnam to take part in the event as chief guest on June 21, the district officials are pulling out all stops to make elaborate arrangements for the IYD celebration. Exhorting people to come together, the District Collector called for collective support to make the record-breaking event a grand success. As part of the drive, yoga experts train people in special asanas, aqua yoga, etc., The picturesque coastline stretching along RK Beach, Bheemunipatnam, Bhogapuram and Srikakulam would become a stage for the celebrations. About 2 crore people are expected to be part of the IYD celebrations in Andhra Pradesh. Of them, 5 lakh people are going to join from North Andhra districts. In addition to dedicated training sessions, demos and contests will be held during the month-long drive which is expected not just to witness a huge participation but also encourage people to incorporate yoga asanas in their daily routine for holistic wellness.
