The Lightning Seeds to headline Sussex NHS gig

The Lightning Seeds are set to perform at the Worthing launch of a new charity venture supporting NHS hospitals in Sussex, it has been announced. The gig at the town's Assembly Hall, on 23 October, will be the first in a series of live events for My Music NHS, featuring internationally renowned and upcoming artists. The events will raise money for the seven hospitals that make up the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. Steve Crump OBE, director of My University Hospitals, the charity behind My Music NHS, said they were aiming to "bring the excitement and vitality of music together with the passion that so many people share for the NHS". "They say music is the food of love, but with My Music it can be the heartbeat of healthcare too," he added. Ian Broudie and his band will perform some of their greatest hits from the past 35 years, including Pure, Lucky You, and Three Lions. All the profits from the gigs organised by My Music NHS will go to the NHS to help deliver treatment, care and research which go over and above core NHS funding. My University Hospitals NHS said they had completed around £4m in grants to support patients and hospitals in the past year. Follow BBC Sussex on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram.
