Trio accused of stealing gaming consoles from employer arrested for felony theft
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Detectives with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested three men on felony theft charges. According to Sheriff Brett Stassi, the suspects, Dorian Battiste, 20; Jeremy Price, 31; and Rico White, 29, are accused of stealing electronic gaming consoles from a retail store where they were employed. Additional arrests may be forthcoming, Sheriff Stassi added. The investigation is ongoing. Fire destroys a sprawling mansion on a former Louisiana sugar plantation
The 53,000-square-foot (4,924-square-meter) home on a former sugar plantation about 65 miles (105 kilometers) northwest of New Orleans included a three-story rotunda adorned with giant white columns and included hand-carved Italian marble fireplaces, according to a description on its website. 'Since the 1980s, it has welcomed visitors from around the world who came to appreciate its architecture and confront the legacies of its era,' he added. 'It stood as both a cautionary monument and a testament to the importance of preserving history — even the painful parts — so that future generations can learn and grow from it.'

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Fire crews in Iberville Parish are responding to a fire at a historic plantation in White Castle Thursday afternoon. According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, the main house of the Nottoway Plantation and Resort caught fire. Officials say the fire is still burning at this time. The extent of the fire is unknown. Visitors and guests on site were evacuated and accounted for, the sheriff's office reports. Nottoway is one of the largest historic mansions in the South, built in 1859. It sits on River Road in White Castle, La., and stands guard over the Mississippi River. The 31-acre property holds 40 overnight rooms, a restaurant, a bar, over 15,000 square feet of event space, a bridal dressing room, an outdoor pool and cabana, tennis courts, and a fitness center.
