Over 2,500 pilgrims processed through Empty Quarter Border Crossing

Ibri: The Rub-el-Khali (Empty Quarter) Border Crossing—linking the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—facilitated the passage of 80 buses carrying 2,696 pilgrims en route to the Holy Lands to perform Hajj rituals. This operation reflects the integrated efforts by relevant authorities to streamline pilgrimage procedures. This meticulous coordination demonstrates the efficiency of collaboration between various entities, including the Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, in simplifying travel procedures and reducing waiting times at border crossings. These measures ensure smooth transit and comfort for pilgrims arriving from various governorates across Oman. Ibrahim Mubarak Al Harthy from the Endowments and Religious Affairs Department in Al Dhahirah Governorate explained that the processing occurred in two phases. The first phase focused on verifying pilgrims' compliance with requirements and guidelines issued by the Omani Hajj Mission and its Saudi counterpart. The second phase involved completing passport procedures and necessary permits for entry to Saudi Arabia. Several pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the organized procedures at the border crossing, praising the seamless transit process and the swift completion of formalities by the concerned authorities. To enhance services, the Royal Oman Police—in cooperation with the Sultan's Armed Forces, the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, and the Ibri Charitable Team—established a comprehensive service station along the route between Ibri and the border crossing. This facility provides various forms of support and assistance to pilgrims, including emergency and ambulance services, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their journey.
