Forest 'style of play suits against a team like Chelsea'

Here is what our Nottingham Forest fan Saveena Johal had to say on questions set by our Chelsea supporter Ross you confident you can win on Sunday?I am. The atmosphere will be cracking for the final home game, and we are going into the game off the back of a pivotal, and long-awaited win at West style of play suits us against a team like Chelsea, so I'm hoping for ample opportunity for us to sit back and hit them on the the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina back from injury, the team will be up for it - this is a game that we can really go for and ultimately qualify for Europe, be that Champions League or Europa is the player most likely to unlock Chelsea's defence?Morgan Gibbs-White has been great at breaking down defensive lines. As a talented all-round player, he has the ability to drift through the opposition and heavily influence has performed well recently, with goals and assists in our past two matches. He has ounces of creativity both in and out of possession, smart tactical play and gets stuck into the deeper Gibbs-White is at his peak on Sunday, there is no doubt the team as a whole will play area of the Forest team could the Blues exploit, if any?Ibrahim Sangare sometimes lets players drift past him in midfield, and he is lacking the fitness to get back. As he has not had regular game time, we have not been able to see his potential. He could therefore be a weak-link if he does play on Sunday. Aside from that, we have conceded in the past three home games due to defensive errors. Matz Sels has been phenomenal, however, and with him I'm optimistic that he will help to boost the confidence in our back-line for the final more from Saveena Johal at Punjabi Forest, external

Nottingham Forest receive health update on Taiwo Awoniyi after striker placed in induced coma

Nottingham Forest have received a positive update on the recovery of Taiwo Awoniyi after the Nigerian striker was woken from an induced coma following abdominal surgery. Awoniyi collided with a post during Forest's 2-2 draw with Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday and received treatment for several minutes before playing on. He was subsequently rushed to hospital for 'urgent surgery' on Monday, though, as the extent of his injuries became clear, before being put in a coma to help restrict his movement and regulate his heart rate. There was no suggestion that his condition was life-threatening, however, with the club saying that Awoniyi was 'recovering well'. Having had the first part of surgery to repair a suspected ruptured intestine on Monday, the striker spent Tuesday in an induced coma before the second stage of the operation, including closing the wound, was completed on Wednesday. Awoniyi was subsequently woken from the induced coma in the early evening yesterday. Having been introduced as a substitute for Ibrahim Sangarae, Awoniyi's collision with the post came as he attempted to get on the end of a cross from Anthony Elanga. Elanga had been in an offside position when the ball was played to him, but the assistant referee did not raise their flag until after the incident involving Awoniyi, as is protocol. When an immediate goalscoring opportunity is likely to occur, officials are instructred to keep their flag down until the passage of play is complete. If a goal is scored, the incident can then be reviewed by the video assistant referee (VAR). This process has been criticised, though, with some managers suggesting that it unnecessarily endangers players. Forest are set to open an internal review into the incident.

The draw leaves Forest in sixth place in the table on 61 points from 35 games, two points behind fifth-placed Chelsea in the final Champions League qualification position. Mid-table Palace took the lead at Selhurst Park when Eze converted a penalty on the hour-mark after Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels had felled Tyrick Mitchell. Eze also hit the crossbar late on. The lead lasted four minutes before Neco Williams' shot was deflected into the Palace net by defender Murillo, who limped off shortly afterwards with a hamstring injury that could see him miss Forest's run-in to the end of the campaign. Second string 'not as good as we hoped'

Some Nottingham Forest fans will have the seen the stat circulating at the weekend, highlighting that the Reds were the highest-placed club left in the FA Cup. Anyone who knows Forest knows that these kind of details are almost meaningless: firstly, because the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa are still in the fifth round; and secondly, we still had to play Exeter City. The fourth round proved how effective clubs such as the Grecians, Plymouth Argyle, Leyton Orient and Birmingham City can be against Premier League opposition. And the fact that it took penalties, and a few scary moments for the Reds to progress, prove how well Exeter played. The first XI will be more familiar against Fulham on Saturday but, if nothing else, last night's game proved that Nuno Espírito Santo's second-string side is not as effective as we hoped. Some performed admirably — seeing Ibrahim Sangare pulling the strings in midfield and displaying his wide passing range was a positive. However, some clearly need match time and will remain squad players for the time being. Hopefully Taiwo Awoniyi and Carlos Miguel will recover quickly, as Forest's record of having the fewest injuries in the Premier League (and days lost to them) are a clear factor in their current position in the table. Keeping the players fresh is undoubtedly at the forefront of Nuno's mind — although a long night in Devon might quickly erase the memory of a week in Dubai. Our opponents in upcoming weeks are facing their own injury issues and, with two games against Ipswich Town in quick succession — an FA Cup fifth-round tie at home followed by a Premier League game away — the Reds will be depending on their stars of the season so far to keep things alive.
