Kuwait Winter Sports Club President Fahad Al-Ajmi KUWAIT: Kuwait Winter Sports Club announced on Tuesday that it has submitted a bid to host the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV, which includes the national teams of Armenia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Singapore, and Kuwait. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the club's participation in the ongoing IIHF meetings currently being held in Sweden. Club President Fahad Al-Ajmi told KUNA that the IIHF will review Kuwait's bid along with others and will announce the host country in the coming period. He expressed hope that Kuwait will have the honor of organizing this major championship, which plays an important role in placing Kuwaiti ice hockey on the international map and in advancing the sport domestically. Al-Ajmi added that the international meetings in Sweden included the participation of the club's Development Director Mishal Al-Ajmi and board member Rashid Al-Failakawi. The meetings also discussed ways to develop the sport globally at various technical levels, especially in Asia, through strengthening tournaments. The meetings resulted in important decisions aimed at developing the game in areas such as refereeing, coaching, and management by intensifying training programs in these fields, added Al-Ajmi, praising the role of the IIHF in promoting the sport at the national team level. – KUNA

The tournament features national teams from Armenia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Singapore, and Kuwait. The announcement came during the club's participation in the ongoing International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) annual meetings currently taking place in Sweden. Speaking to KUNA, Club President Fahed Al-Ajmi said that the IIHF will evaluate all submitted bids and is expected to name the host nation shortly. Al-Ajmi expressed hope that Kuwait will be granted the opportunity to host the prestigious championship, noting that doing so would significantly elevate the profile of Kuwaiti ice hockey on the global stage and further promote the sport domestically. KUWAIT, April 20, (KUNA): Kuwait's national ice hockey team secured a bronze medal at the Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV in Yerevan, Armenia, on Saturday, marking another milestone in their ongoing achievements, said Fahid Al-Ajmi, president of the Kuwait Winter Games Club, on Sunday. In a statement to KUNA following the team's arrival back home, Al-Ajmi highlighted that Kuwait came close to clinching the title on several occasions. He expressed the team's focus on the upcoming tournament in the third division. Al-Ajmi praised the players for their strong performance throughout the championship, attributing their success to the hard work put in during training camps and the consistent support from the Public Authority for Sport. He reassured that the club would continue to support the players to help them elevate their performance, particularly emphasizing the excellence of the younger athletes. In a similar statement to KUNA, player Mashari Mohammad reflected on the competitive atmosphere at the championship, noting that the experience would motivate the team to achieve even better results in future competitions.
