Starbucks' Summer Menu Is Here & Includes A Must-Try New Drink

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Apparently, the Starbucks innovation team never sleeps. Fresh off its spring release—including the Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte, Iced Cherry Chai, and even more not-so-secret customizations—the Seattle-based coffee giant has dreamt up yet another new beverage as part of its summer 2025 menu lineup. In addition to its returning refreshers, Starbucks dropped the Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso on Tuesday. The debut drink includes the coffee shop's signature blonde espresso for a light, smooth, and slightly sweet flavor profile, with creamy oat milk and the new horchata-flavored syrup, which has nutty, sweet vanilla, and cinnamon notes just like the traditional beverage. "In the central California neighborhood where I grew up, horchata was everywhere—on street corners, in convenience stores, and on the menu at most Mexican restaurants we visited," beverage developer Ricky Gonzalez said a statement. "Every Sunday, we would have a family meal at a Mexican restaurant, and horchata was always a treat for my brother and me. It was icy, sweet, and spiced with cinnamon. It's both comforting and refreshing." In addition to the new shaken espresso, customers can finally get a taste of the Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and Summer Skies Drink again, which both debuted last year and are great (much sweeter) options for non-coffee drinkers. The former beverage is exactly what it sounds like: a mix of lemonade and berry flavors, while the latter has juicy raspberry-flavored pearls (like what you'll find in a boba tea) and creamy coconut milk. Social media user @snackolater first shared a sneak peek of the summer lineup on Instagram in April. Customers quickly took to the Instagram comment section to share their thoughts on the summer menu and praised both the new and returning drinks. "The blue skies drinks are really good, so I'm happy they are bringing that back," one commenter wrote. "Summer berry lemonade refresher, let's go!!! I wish it stayed all year," another wrote. "Finally Starbucks is stepping up their ice coffee game with adding a horchata shaken espresso to the mix," a third person commented. All three drinks, as well as the new Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop, will be available while supplies last this summer. Burger King menu makes a big change for summer

All major fast food chains rely on one key strategy to keep customers coming back through their doors in all seasons: the constant rotation of something new to try (perhaps with a Saltbae-inspired dash of FOMO sprinkled in for good measure). Whether its mixing something tried and true with something unusual, like Popeyes' recent announcement of a pickle-themed menu, or remixing its standby ingredients into new combinations (as Taco Bell often does to great results), consistent innovation seems to keep customers coming back again and again. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter McDonald's and Starbucks are the two quick-service chains that seem to have mastered this tactic best. McDonald's CosMc launch in 2024 was a bold effort to take on the coffeehouse-loving crowd that's paid off for the brand and put its foot firmly into the growing $100 billion specialty beverage market. Related: Burger King answers McDonald's new restaurant format move Starbucks has been good at this tactic for a long time, and its consistency has paid off, as it's now the second-largest chain in the world by total location count (38,587 locations as of 2023). Aside from being literally everywhere, Starbucks is keeping customers interested by leaning further into its oatmilk latte offerings and debuting new drinks like its Iced Cherry Chai. Burger King (QSR) is also playing the game and has just announced a new drink for summer that should tantalize longtime fans of the chain. Burger King's latest menu addition is a frozen Fanta Strawberry, which you can order in small, medium, and large sizes for $2.29, $2.49, and $2.89, respectively. This is an addition to the chain's already-popular regular Fanta Strawberry, which has been on its drink menu for a while alongside a Frozen Fanta Blue Raspberry flavor and the longtime classic Frozen Coke. Burger King has ambitious plans for 2025 and beyond, as it announced back in 2022 when it detailed its "Reclaim the Flame" plan, which included a $700 million investment through the end of 2028 to turn up the heat on its advertising strategy, remodel key locations, and improve its kitchen equipment. As of December 31, 2024, the chain confirmed it had funded $133 million out of up to $550 million planned toward what it calls the "Royal Reset" investments. Related: Burger King menu adds new side dish, sandwich, Whopper Customers can get a look at what the changes look like in Burger King's new "Sizzle" restaurants, which offer kiosks and in-store mobile orders and pickups, as well as mobile orders and pickups at the drive-thru. Restaurant Brands International has said it plans to spend $200 million on these new designs, which it spent a year ideating on before making the move forward. The good news is that the strategy is working. Profitability per restaurant has soared nearly 50 percent in 2023, from $140,000 to over $205,000, with an aim to reach $300,000 per store. "We've got to be intent and thoughtful about every step," North America president Tom Curtis told QSR Magazine in an interview in 2023. "And so, we're more excited, more fired up, than we've ever been. But we're still not overconfident. This isn't a layup; it's a 3-point shot." However, Burger King's American arm still seems to be waiting on taking the menu risks that get its fellow players heavily shared on social media. Overseas, however, its customers seem to enjoy wilder items, such as the Mexican Avocado Whopper it just announced in the Japanese market. That said, as the brand continues to push its new plans forward, it's not impossible we could see more experimental items hit US menus. Burger King was in 7th place in terms of revenue in 2024, following McDonalds, Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, Taco Bell, Wendy's and Dunkin. Starbucks spring menu coming Tuesday as 13 drinks removed

Starbucks launches its spring menu with new and returning limited-time drinks Tuesday — the same day the coffee giant removes 13 longtime items. Why it matters: The Seattle-based company, under CEO Brian Niccol, has been making a series of changes as part of its "Back to Starbucks" rollout to try to reverse a decline in foot traffic. The plan includes trimming "roughly 30%" of its menu items by the end of the 2025 fiscal year. The big picture: Even though Starbucks is making menu cuts, it is still adding new items as seasonal menu launches usually drive sales and attract customers. It added the Cortado in January and in February released limited-time drinks for Valentine's Day and Blackberry Sage Refreshers. "We're focusing on premium beverages rooted in customer trends and preferences," the company said. Starbucks spring menu 2025 includes lavender drinks Zoom in: Starbucks said Monday that it will release the new Iced Cherry Chai on Tuesday along with three returning lavender beverages. The company says the lavender drinks — Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha, Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte and Lavender Crème Frappuccino — "were extremely successful when they debuted last spring." Starbucks said the lavender cream cold foam contains dairy. Dig in: The Jalapeño Chicken Pocket joins Starbucks' permanent menu Tuesday. For a limited time, through April 1, customers can get one free packet of TRUFF Original or Jalapeño Lime Hot Sauce with any breakfast sandwich, breakfast wrap, egg bites, bakes, lunch sandwiches or pockets. A new blonde roast, Sunsera Blend, also launches Tuesday, and will be the hot brewed light roast coffee of the day. It will be sold as packaged coffee in Starbucks locations and grocery stores. Starbucks Iced Cherry Chai, seasonal cold foams The Iced Cherry Chai is Starbucks' first springtime chai beverage and the company has had seasonal iced chai drinks that include the Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai and Iced Apple Crisp Nondairy Cream Chai. The new drink includes the chain's classic iced chai latte topped with a new, seasonal cherry cream cold foam and a "sprinkle of crunchy topping." Starbucks said almost any beverage can be customized with the cherry cold foam and lavender cream cold foam. Kelly's taste test: Axios had an early taste of the Iced Cherry Chai before its nationwide release. The drink was sweet and smooth and I'm thinking of what drink to try the cherry cold foam on next. Starbucks removing 13 drinks: The list State of play: Starbucks starts its first round of menu cuts Tuesday. The list includes several Frappuccino blended beverages and items the company says "aren't commonly purchased, can be complex to make, or are like other beverages on our menu, Starbucks confirmed to Axios. The 13 drinks being cut are: Espresso Frappuccino Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino Java Chip Frappuccino White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino Chai Crème Frappuccino Caramel Ribbon Crunch Crème Frappuccino Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino Chocolate Cookie Crumble Crème Frappuccino White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino Iced Matcha Lemonade White Hot Chocolate Royal English Breakfast Latte Honey Almondmilk Flat White Starbucks menu changes: More items to be cut What's next: Additional beverages and food items will leave the menu "throughout the coming months," with the roughly 30% menu reduction happening by September 2025, the company has said. Starbucks said this will "make way for innovation." Starbucks is cutting some ‘less popular' drinks from its menu. Here's what will be removed next week.

Starbucks says these cuts will reduce wait times, improve consistency and 'make way for innovation.' The chain says it will continue to introduce a handful of other new items and seasonal specials, such as its Cortado beverage introduced last month and a new 'Iced Cherry Chai' set to debut in the spring.
