Wendell Green Jr. earns All-Kosovo Superliga Player of the Year award
Former Auburn guard Wendell Green Jr. took home a trio of awards for his contributions overseas on Thursday. The 22-year-old, who now plays his basketball for KB Bashkimi Prizren in Kosovo, took home the Eurobasket All-Kosovo Superliga Player of the Year, Import Player of the Year, and Guard of the Year awards this week.
The former Auburn point guard was given the accolades after an impressive season in which he averaged 16.3 points per game on nearly 48% shooting from the field. Green also averaged just under 4.5 assists per contest, while averaging over a steal (1.3) per game throughout KB Bashkimi Prizren's 23 league game campaign.
The Detroit, Michigan native turned the Pistons up a notch in non-league play, where Green Jr. averaged well over 20 points per game (23.2) over a five-game stretch in the Iceland-Bonus League. His 23.2 points per contest led all scorers over that small stretch of action.
Still just 22 years old, the undersized, 5-foot-11 guard is putting together the type of overseas statistics that could put some NBA teams on notice. While Green Jr.'s success hasn't reached the heights of fellow Auburn alumni Jared Harper's, the former is much younger, leaving him a much better opportunity to see action for a G League or NBA Team in training camp next summer.
The former Tiger last played in the United States 2023 as a member of the Maine Celtics. Prior to that, Green Jr. had a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he appeared in Summer League action before spending the season with the G League team.
