Japan's IHI to launch microsatellites with Finland's Iceye
TOKYO -- Japanese defense contractor IHI will launch small observation satellites through a partnership with Finnish space developer Iceye, Nikkei has learned. IHI will launch up to 24 radar microsatellites through fiscal 2027. The spacecraft -- built by either IHI or Iceye -- will be sent to a low-orbit altitude of 500 kilometers.

Space Startup Iceye Boosts Poland Investment to Meet Army Demand
Iceye Oy, the Finnish maker of advanced Earth-observation satellites, plans further investments in Poland as it sees increased demand from countries that want to improve their intelligence-gathering capabilities in space. Iceye, which has raised more than $500 million from investors such as BlackRock Inc. and Seraphim Space Investment Trust PLC, already employs about 150 people in Poland, where it oversees its fleet and runs one of its research and manufacturing centers.

Poland Signs $227 Million Deal for Iceye's Satellite System
Poland's armed forces have ordered three satellites from Iceye Oy in a bid to bolster its surveillance and intelligence capabilities amid Russia's ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The 860-million zloty ($227 million) contract for synthetic-aperture radar satellites that monitor the terrain regardless of the weather conditions includes a ground segment that will be built together with state firm Wojskowe Zaklady Lacznosci 1. The agreement has an option to add more units within the next 12 months, according to a statement.
