CPI leader says alliance government only focusing on development of Amaravati

CPI State assistant secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy on Monday accused the alliance government in the State of focusing on the development of Amaravati alone while neglecting the other regions. Addressing the media, Mr. Murthy ridiculed the government's decision to acquire an additional 40,000 acres of land in the capital region, while 40,000 acres had already been acquired. He also found fault on the allocation of 4,000 acres of land for construction of a new international airport at Amaravati, while the present airport at Gannavaram, which was about 30 km from Amaravati, was already being developed. He questioned the need for a second international airport in close proximity. Similarly, he raised objection over the allocation of 2,600 acres of land for construction of a railway station at Amaravati. The alliance government had declared that Visakhapatnam would be developed as an IT hub for Andhra Pradesh, but now the construction of Iconic Towers was taken up at Amaravati, he said, adding land was allotted to TCS at 99 paise an acre but it remains to be seen as to when they would start operations. Land was allocated to Franklin Templeton in the past and basic amenities were created at a huge cost but the organisation had not even laid the foundation stone, so far, Mr. Murthy alleged. Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Ram Mohan Naidu had announced that the Bhogapuram International Airport would begin operations in 2026 but the roads linking the airport have not been developed, so far. The Centre has not yet come out with a statement on Vizag Metro Corridor, he said. The CPI leader also alleged that the alliance government was not making any efforts to stall the moves of the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre to privatise Visakhapatnam Steel Plant(VSP). New committee Meanwhile, the 25th Mahasabha of the CPI Visakhapatnam District Council unanimously elected the following persons as office-bearers: S.K. Rahaman – district secretary, K. Satyanarayana and P. Chandrasekhar – district assistant secretaries, and M. Pydiraju, K. Satyanjaneya, R. Srinivasa Rao, M. Manmadha Rao, C.N. Kshetrapal Reddy, K. Vanajakshi and N. Nagabushanam as executive members.
