Gregory Porter review — this old-school, jazzy entertainment is hard to beat
Gregory Porter is the quintessential Jools Holland guest. The accessible jazz and soul, the good cheer, the smooth professionalism … everything about the 53-year-old Californian's Royal Albert Hall show exuded the kind of musical charm that goes down a storm on Later. He sticks to a people-pleasing template, but then Porter is just so good at pleasing people that it's hard to be cynical about it.
