Man 'lucky' not to have killed stranger he stabbed in Ilfracombe
A 56-year-old man who launched an unprovoked knife attack on a stranger was fortunate not to have killed him, a judge has Lammas, of Belvedere Road, Ilfracombe, stabbed a 33-year-old man multiple times on the high street in the north Devon town in September Exeter Crown Court, Lammas admitted wounding with intent and was jailed for three years and four Anna Richardson said "such an unprovoked attack would be terrifying" for the victim. The court heard Lammas admit he "went a bit far" as he went to help a girl who he thought the victim was attacking or having a heated row victim needed hospital treatment and said he was suffering panic attacks and court also heard Lammas, who has complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), had drunk alcohol and used cannabis and Valium before the incident.

Devon council gets £762k for energy efficiency improvements
A Devon council has been awarded more than £760,000 of funding to deliver energy efficiency improvements to some of its Devon Council said £762,065 from the government's Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme would be used to improve Ilfracombe's Landmark Theatre and the Brynsworthy Environment Centre in funded by the grant would "help the council's overall aim to improve the energy efficiency of its assets and reduce carbon emissions to reach its net zero target by 2030", it would include the removal of gas and oil boilers to be replaced with air source heat pumps, it added. The total value of the scheme has been costed at £865,984, with the surplus being funded by the council and Landmark Theatres, officials project is due for completion by September 2026, they Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme supported an aim of reducing emissions from public sector buildings by 75% by 2037, compared to a 2017 baseline, the government said.
