Alcohol compliance checks will happen more often in Pana after 50% of businesses fail
PANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Several Pana businesses have been fined after failing their alcohol compliance checks last weeks.
The Liquor Compliance Check took place on Wednesday, as part of a partnership between the Pana Police Department, Code Enforcement Officers, Christian County Sheriff's Deputies, and Special Agents with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission Office.

14 establishments in Pana were checked. Half of them sold alcohol to a person who was under 21 years old.
The establishments inside City limits found to be non-compliant were given a City Ordinance Violation for Prohibited Sales of Alcohol with a $500.00 fine. The sellers outside City limits were cited for Illegal Gift/Sale of Alcohol to Minors. All seven establishments were served notice by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission Office and will be given additional fines for the violation.
The businesses that sold alcohol to a person who was under 21 years old included:

Station 502; 123 East 3rd St., Pana, IL6. Pana Gaming Parlor; 312 South Poplar St., Pana, IL7. Blue Bell Tavern; 2657 East 250 North Road, Pana, IL
The Pana Police Department said that compliance checks will now happen more often due to the 'disappointing results from this operation.' For repeat offenders, violations could include liquor license suspension and higher fines in the future.
