Rabat to Host 5th Meeting of Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution
The 5th meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution will be held on Tuesday in Rabat, under the theme 'Sustaining the Peace Process Momentum: Lessons Learned, Achievements, and Prospects.' Organized by the Kingdom of Morocco in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the meeting will bring together senior political officials, special envoys, as well as actors and representatives from international organizations committed to the Two-State Solution. The discussions will focus on a range of topics, including the impact of peace processes in the Middle East, efforts to support the governance structures of the Palestinian state, and the economic foundations of peace in the region. Aimed at encouraging the development of a platform for projects, initiatives, and achievements that support the prospect of lasting peace in the Middle East, the meeting is expected to lead to concrete political recommendations to back diplomatic efforts and strengthen conditions favorable to the realization of the Two-State Solution. The outcomes of this meeting will feed into the work of the High-Level Conference on the Two-State Solution, scheduled to take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York in June 2025. Launched during the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly in September 2024, the Global Alliance is a diplomatic platform dedicated to the effective revival of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. This fifth meeting follows four previous ones held in Riyadh, Brussels, Oslo, and Cairo. (MAP: 19 May 2025)

Egypt hosts 4th meeting of International Coalition for Implementation of Two-State Solution
Egypt hosted the fourth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution on February 2025- press photo CAIRO – 17 February 2025: Egypt hosted the fourth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution on Monday. The meeting was attended by Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty, along with Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Ms. Sigrid Kaag, Senior United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza and UN Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, as well as representatives from more than 35 countries, organizations, and regional and international bodies. Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, Spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelatty delivered the opening speech, where he emphasized Egypt's full commitment to implementing the two-state solution. Abdelatty highlighted the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state encompassing the entire Palestinian national territory, including both the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Minister Abdelatty stressed that this is the only viable solution to achieve peace and security for all peoples in the region. He also praised the Saudi initiative in launching the coalition and expressed the importance of joint cooperation for its successful implementation. Moreover, he commended the United States for its role in reaching the ceasefire agreement, underlining its importance in maintaining the sustainability of the agreement and its implementation in all three stages. The Egyptian Minister also reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance against any displacement of Palestinians from their land, a position supported by the Arab world and the wider international community. He pointed out that such actions violate international law and UN resolutions and pose a threat to regional stability. Furthermore, the Foreign Minister addressed the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for an early recovery process to ensure that Palestinians remain on their land while Gaza is rebuilt within a clear and specific time frame. He also mentioned Egypt's efforts to develop a comprehensive, multi-stage plan for Gaza's early recovery and reconstruction. Minister Abdelatty stressed the vital role of UNRWA in addressing the humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories, recognizing its extensive experience as indispensable and irreplaceable. He reiterated Egypt's strong opposition to any alternative to UNRWA and condemned the Israeli Knesset's approval of two laws aimed at obstructing its operations. He emphasized that Israel, as the occupying power, must fulfill its obligations under the United Nations Charter and international law. Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA, expressed his gratitude to Egypt for its support, emphasizing the importance of continuing this role to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire and the implementation of the agreement in all three stages. He highlighted the crucial role played by UNRWA in providing essential services to the Palestinian people, discussed the obstacles it faces from the Israeli authorities, and stressed the urgent need for food aid and a coordinated response to address immediate humanitarian needs. Ms. Sigrid Kaag, Senior United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza and UN Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, commended Egypt's pivotal role in securing the ceasefire agreement in cooperation with Qatar and the United States. She expressed her hope to solidify the agreement and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Ms. Kaag also reviewed initial estimates for the cost of rebuilding Gaza and stressed the importance of achieving a comprehensive political solution to the Palestinian issue.
