City of OKC names Brent Bryant for Assistant City Manager

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – On Monday, City officials named Brent Bryant as the next Assistant City Manager for Oklahoma City in its latest press release. According to City leaders, the Assistant Manager position is the second-highest-ranking position in the City and responsible for overseeing departments and ensuring efficient City operations. Oklahoma lawmakers push to eradicate invasive red cedar trees amid fire danger Brent began his career in 1991 as an internal auditor in the City Auditor's Office and served various roles over 34 years. 'Brent has successfully led some of the City's most complex financial programs over the years,' City Manager Craig Freeman said. 'Among many other accomplishments, he managed 16 of the City's 21 Tax Increment Financing Districts, was responsible for developing the City's $2 billion budget and managed the GO bond and trust debt totaling $2.2 billion.' Bryant will oversee 5 departments. He replaces Laura Johnson, who retired on March 14 after serving 45 years. Department assignments are as follows: Brent Bryant: Finance, Public Works, Utilities, MAPS and the Office of Equity. Aubrey McDermid: Parks and Recreation, Planning, Public Information, Development Services and venue contract facilitation. LaShawn Thompson: Airports, General Services, Human Resources, City Clerk, General Services, Municipal Courts and Zoo. Ferbrache: Fire, Police, Information Technology and Public Transportation and Parking and law enforcement policy implementation. I have had the privilege to help change the very fabric of our great City in my roles in Finance Administration and the City Manager's Office. I look forward to this new chapter.' The Assistant City Managers report to the City Manager, who oversees day-to-day operations, a staff of 5,000 employees and an operating budget of $918 million, says City officials.
