Forgotten for years, smog guns make comeback in Ludh West

Ludhiana: After years, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is using anti-smog guns, purchased to counter air pollution three years ago, to sprinkle water on roads in West constituency. Incidentally, the anti smog guns were never used by the MC after being purchased. The six machines (four big and two small) were purchased with great fanfare under the National Clean Air Program in 2022. However, they were soon deemed useless. The machines, recommended by MC officials during the Congress govt, were purchased during the tenure of the AAP govt. In the first year, one machine was used and three large machines were not used. Two small machines were used in some areas. According to officials, they require water, diesel, and one vehicle to carry the machine. One anti-smog gun is in use as it is fitted on a truck, while the second one was fitted on an old truck, which needs repair. Last November, when air in the city was polluted, MC officials did not bring these machines out, saying that they could not make much of a difference other than sprinkling water on people.
