Ramlilas committees across Delhi to screen Operation Sindoor to honour forces
NEW DELHI: Nearly 850 Ramlila committees across Delhi will hold a special daily screening of Operation Sindoor before their performances this Navratri as a tribute to the valour of the Indian Armed Forces. Operation Sindoor, which was launched on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, will be featured as a special tribute to Indian Armed forces either through a play or a short film ranging 15-20 minutes before the main Ramayana enactment begins. The decision was made during a coordination meeting attended by representatives of the Ramlila committees, along with officials from the Delhi Government, Police, Jal Board, Electricity Department, and the MCD. During the meeting, the Ramlila committees also proposed establishing a Ramayana Research Centre. Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, who was present at the meeting, said that a tableau showcasing the bravery and valour of the Indian Armed Forces will also be featured in this year's Ramlilas. 'It was suggested to establish a Ramayana Research Institute in Delhi to enable continuous research on the life and deeds of Lord Shri Ram. It was also urged that Sita's birth be enacted along with Ram's in this year's Ramlilas. Both proposals were unanimously accepted. This year, tableaux showcasing the bravery and valour of the Indian Armed Forces will also be featured,' he stated. The committees also assured their cooperation with government agencies on matters related to sanitation, water supply, traffic, and licensing issues during the organisation of Ramlilas. Management lessons from ‘Operation Sindoor'
'Operation Sindoor' undertaken by the Indian Armed forces has many management lessons for corporates. While the situation may not be exactly similar for a battle between countries (one country with proxy fighters) and between businesses, many learnings can be extrapolated. The key learnings from 'Operation Sindoor' for corporate sector environment challenges are: There will be severe criticism (internal & media coverage) on inability to anticipate the competitors move and the decibel level of the criticism can be quite high. This is to be expected and one should not get distracted by the event and noise to quickly come up with an action rejoinder. The CEO / MD / CMD – whatever is the top position has to be seen leading from the front. Needs to be seen to be in-charge and all involved in the Business and its dynamics MUST have confidence that the Company / Business will emerge stronger from this challenge. The Leader MUST convey that he / she knows how to manage the disturbance. The Leader MUST trust his team members. This is not the time for recrimination and finger pointing. The LEADER must clearly define his intents and objectives for meeting the challenge and then leave it to his / her Team to get results. Back your Team and know their plans and Trust that the plans will be properly executed. Constantly, monitor the progress and developments and where required change tactics. Be fully aware that there are many on your side, who for whatever reason, are looking for the current Team to fail and they can beat the drums saying this team doesn't know how to manage and there is a need for a new TEAM. Corporate politics is not a new phenomenon and has destroyed many corporations. Trying to show oneself superior is a common human failing. Do not make the mistake of thinking that the current challenge faced by the Business has solutions in actions taken in the past to protect the Business. That may not work out. Times change – competitors change – competence of competitors can change – business environment could have changed. Your actions cannot be a déjà vu. A new thinking paradigm may be required and has to happen. The problem needs a relook from various angles. Sometimes, the real problem is not your competitor. It is a voice within the organization. Some voices lack confidence, some are in questioning mode offering no solution, some have bravado without action plans and some constantly try to drag you down by highlighting the supposed strength of the competitor and your supposed weakness. Every organization will have dis-believers within the organization. By effective performance, they have to be shut down. The plan of action for response must be kept reasonably secret and known only to few people. Once the action plan is decided, it has to be properly and effectively conveyed and all need to understand their responsibility and accountability. Effective implementation not perfect plans is the Key. The action plan for meeting the new challenge may require an organization overhaul. Standard responses may not work. These standard responses may assist you in holding the fort but do nothing to convey a new sense of purpose and direction. Sometimes, existential challenges can bring fresh thinking in the business. This can be a wonderful opportunity to junk old processes, structures, create a less complicated organization structure and define Responsibility clearly without overlaps. Organization simplicity and fluidity is very important. There is a need to be paranoid and constantly imagining actions of the competitors. There is no time for complacency and feeling that one can relax. Competitive business will always throw up challenges and being paranoid can keep one better prepared. Competition is always in thinking and action mode and so must the corporate be.
