Open gyms approved for 3 US Nagar stadiums under govt scheme

Rudrapur: The state govt has approved the construction of open gyms in 18 stadiums across Uttarakhand under the Chief Minister Rural Sports and Health Promotion Scheme, including three key stadiums in Udham Singh Nagar district. Major sports complexes in the district have long lacked in-house gym facilities, creating challenges for state-level athletes. Even the Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium in Rudrapur, the district headquarters, was without such basic infrastructure. The lack of facilities became evident when the stadium hosted a state-level volleyball camp for men's and women's teams ahead of the 38th National Games. While players trained on the field, they had to rely on private gyms for strength training. A similar situation was seen at the newly built stadium in Chakarpur, Khatima, during a state-level Mallakhamb training camp. Athletes once again turned to private facilities, underscoring the lack of essential infrastructure. In response, the govt has approved open gyms at three stadiums in the district: Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium (Rudrapur), Van Chetna Kendra (Chakarpur, Khatima), and Mini Stadium (Sakaniya, Gadarpur). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Officials said 40% of the budget has already been released to the implementing agency, Indian Cooperative Rural Development and Construction. He added that the initiative is expected to enhance training facilities for rural athletes and promote a culture of fitness across the region.
