ISB celebrates Technofest showcasing students' talent and creativity

SK views The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated the 21st edition of its annual Technofest on Monday, 19 May 2025, at the Isa Town campus. The event was organised by ISB science department to mark Indian National Science and Technology Day and featured a wide range of competitions that encouraged students from Grades 4 to 12 to explore science through creativity and innovation. Students took part in various activities such as model making, poster designing, and display board presentations, all focused on important scientific themes. The competitions aimed to raise awareness and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills among participants. In the Grade 4 model making competition on the theme Best from Waste, the winners were Abigail Arun (4-Z), Deborah Sasha Edwin (4-T), and Yousif Khamis Saad (4-M). Grade 5 students showcased their artistic talents in a poster-making contest on Save Soil for a Better Tomorrow, with Heer Dipak Bhai Kakadiya (5- H), Sera Kishore (5-J), and Pratyusha Dey (5-R) emerging as top performers. Themed display board contests were conducted for higher grades. Grade 6 focused on Clean Water and Sanitation, with Sections 6-K, 6-P, and 6-F taking the top three places. Grade 7 worked on Alternate Energy Sources, where Sections 7-C, 7-Q, and 7-H won honours. In Grade 8, the theme was Space Expeditions, and Sections 8-D, 8-K, and 8-P stood out. Digital poster-making competitions highlighted scientific knowledge and design skills. Grade 9 students focused on the Science of Vaccines, with Sections 9-Q, 9-I, and 9-P winning. Grade 10 explored Women in Science: Past and Present, and the top spots went to Sections 10-H, 10-W, and 10-U. Grade 11 focused on the Internet of Things with winners from 11-H, 11-N, and 11-Q, while Grade 12's topic, Importance of Nuclear Energy, saw Sections 12-H, 12-N, and 12-Q leading.

ISB dominates platinum jubilee badminton championship

TDT | Manama The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated its Platinum Jubilee with a landmark badminton tournament that saw both strong hosting and remarkable student performances. The ISB @ 75 Junior & Senior Open Badminton Tournament, held from May 6 to 10 at the school's Isa Town campus, attracted top players from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. More than 400 matches were played in the five-day event, making it one of the largest badminton competitions in the Kingdom. Conducted under Badminton World Federation (BWF) regulations and overseen by certified umpires, the tournament highlighted ISB's dedication to sporting excellence. ISB students secured top honors across multiple age categories, with standout performances from Arjun Arun Kumar, Aadhya Anuj, Baron Biju, and Sai Sreenivas Arunkumar. The tournament served as a proud showcase of talent and organization during the school's milestone 75th year.

ISB honours young achievers for Classes IV and V

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) hosted its Annual Academic Awards Ceremony on Thursday for Classes IV and V, celebrating the scholastic accomplishments of students during the academic year 2024- 2025. The occasion was graced by ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon. Vice-Chairman & Hon. Member HSSE and Sports Dr. Mohammed Faizal, Hon. and Member-Academics Ranjini Mohan, Hon. Member-Projects and Maintenance Mithun Mohan, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier, Senior School and Academic Administration Vice-Principal G. Satheesh, Middle Section Vice-Principal Jose Thomas, Junior Wing Vice-Principal Priya Laji and Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas. The programme commenced with the National Anthems of Bahrain and India. This was followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by student Fatima Filzah Rukuddin of Class IV-G. Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese lighted the ceremonial lamp. Commitment In his presidential address, Adv. Binu Mannil commended the teachers for their unwavering commitment and instrumental role in the students' academic achievements. He congratulated the awardees for their exemplary performance and acknowledged the efforts of all students who received 'A1 Grade' certificates for their diligence and consistency. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the parents for their steadfast support and partnership in nurturing discipline and academic responsibility among students. Earlier the programme began with the school prayer, followed by an invocation dance performed gracefully by students from Classes IV and V. Principal VR Palaniswamy welcomed the gathering and emphasised the significance of academic recognition. Gratitude The vote of thanks was delivered by Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, who expressed gratitude to all those involved in organising the successful event. A highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of A1 Certificates to the meritorious students of Classes IV and V. This was followed by a captivating theme-based dance presentation, showcasing the talent and creativity of the young learners. The programme was effectively anchored by Noora Rahmathil (IV-H), Abhimanyu Midhun (VW), and Reyhan Thomas (V-B), who served as the masters of ceremonies.

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) wrapped up its ISB @ 75 Junior and Senior Open Badminton Tournament in style on Saturday at its Isa Town campus. The five-day competition was part of the school's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The event brought together players from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, making it one of the largest badminton tournaments ever held in the Kingdom. Over 400 matches were played under Badminton World Federation rules, with certified umpires officiating. Competitive spirit on display In the elite Men's Doubles category, Michael Otega Onwe and Muhammad Ashik PS secured victory, while Mohammed Obaid and Ali Ahmed Obaid finished as runners-up. Matches spanned numerous age groups and categories, showcasing the depth of talent across the region. The valedictory function was attended by National Trading House Managing Director Dileep C Thaker and Bahrain National Badminton Team Coach Ahmed Al Jallad. ISB Chairman Adv Binu Mannil Varughese, Secretary V Rajapandian, Principal VR Palaniswamy and other senior school officials and committee members also joined the event. Celebrating achievement Principal VR Palaniswamy welcomed attendee sand praised the players for their sportsmanship. Felicitation speeches from Adv Binu Mannil Varughese and Jubilee Committee Convener Prince S Natarajan acknowledged the hard work of the participants and organisers. The competition saw players as young as under-9 and up to the elite categories compete fiercely in singles and doubles events. Winners across 33 categories were recognised, from junior divisions through to master's and mixed doubles competitions. A memorable sporting occasion The tournament concluded with thanks extended to sponsors, participants and volunteers. Hon Secretary V Rajapandian delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the wider badminton community for their role in the success of the event.

ISB Launches Major Badminton Tournament

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) launched one of the Kingdom's largest badminton tournaments on Tuesday, drawing over 350 players from across Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait as part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations. A total of 65 matches were held on the opening day of the five-day ISB @ 75 Junior & Senior Open Badminton Tournament, hosted at the school's Isa Town campus in its newly renovated Jashanmal Auditorium. The facility now features four international-standard courts with impact-resistant PVC flooring and professional lighting. Wider Participation More than 400 matches are scheduled through to the finals on Saturday, with events spanning 39 categories, including Boys' and Girls' Singles and Doubles from U9 to U19, Men's and Women's Doubles across various skill levels, and Mixed Doubles. All matches are knockout-style and conducted in line with Badminton World Federation (BWF) rules under the supervision of certified umpires. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to winners in each category, while every participant will receive a digital certificate. Strong Backing The tournament, supported by the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF), was officially opened by ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese in the presence of top school officials and sports dignitaries, including National Trading House MD Dileep C Thaker, Bahrain national coach Ahmed Al Jallad, and Tournament Director Binu Pappachan. The event is sponsored by National Trading House WLL and continues ISB's long tradition of promoting sports as a cornerstone of student development and community engagement. ISB Principal VR Palaniswamy and Jubilee General Convener Prince S. Natarajan invited the public to attend the matches throughout the week and join in commemorating the school's 75th year through sport.
