17 Films That Had Us With Our Heads In Our Hands Saying "This Is So Stupid"

Recently, u/WonderfulParticular1 asked r/moviecritic for movies that made them think "Jesus. This is so damn stupid." Here are some of the top responses: Paramount Pictures 1. Madame Web Sony Pictures Releasing "The villain dialogue alone was awful." – fethers42 "I had the unfortunate pleasure of watching this movie, not once, not twice, but thrice. And let me tell you, it does get worse with extra viewings." – SnooBeans5652 2. Holmes and Watson Sony Pictures Releasing "Such a waste of time, money, effort, and talent." – DrHemmington "I hate that I can't remember where I read this review, but someone said the movie was like one of those stories where someone is granted wishes that all have a twist, so the person wishes for their deceased loved one to be alive again, only to have them come back as an undead monster. Essentially, we buried Step Brothers at the pet cemetery hoping to get another Will Ferrell /John C. Riley buddy comedy, but got Holmes and Watson instead." – Rjsmith5 3. Rebel Moon Netflix "Man it's such a mess of a movie, shit just appears on screen for two minutes and are never talked about before or after that moment." – Half-White_Moustache 4. Jurassic World Universal Pictures "The end when the T-Rex and Raptor nod to each other in mutual respect for their teamwork when taking down the supervillain. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I honestly was expecting the Raptor to give a thumbs up followed by a freeze frame ending. It was that stupid." – Kubrickwon 5. Meg 2: The Trench Warner Bros. Pictures "When Statham swims at the very bottom of the ocean instead of being smashed into boiling paste." – Deckard2022 6. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures "Somehow Palpatine returned..." – riot_ir "To give an idea of how much we hate this movie in our household, a few years ago our 13 year old German shepherd became gravely ill in a matter of days. It was that clear 'end of life' type of thing. We made the call to Lap of Love, which provides home euthanasia, and they were coming the next day. My wife and I couldn't sleep at all knowing what tomorrow would bring. To pass the time, we put on some movies. But we didn't want to watch movies that we liked in fears of associating the death of our dog. Instead, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull were our movies of choice. Being in the category of 'movies you will watch knowing your going to put your dog down the next day' is a special kind of awful." – AkursedX 7. The Dark Tower Sony Pictures Releasing "I LOVE Idris Elba, but I absolutely refuse to watch that abomination of a movie. Just the previews alone were enough to make my eye twitch." – QualityParticular739 "Fuckin' A. That movie should have been as dope as the source material; instead it was worse than a turd in the swimming pool." – dvadersfist 8. 50 Shades of Grey Universal Pictures "It was one of the least sexy movies I can remember watching. About as hot as a Minions movie." – asdf072 9. Spectre Sony Pictures Releasing 10. The Happening 20th Century Studios "I remember we were about ten minutes in with my friend and her boyfriend (he had seen it before), and I made a joke about the twist. He told me I was correct and I was like, 'That is so fucking stupid!' We stopped it and watched Sideways instead." – fierce_history 11. Independence Day: Resurgence 20th Century Studios "Oh god I forgot about this movie! I think my brain tried to pretend it never happened. I was so excited for nothing!" – rubber_padded_spoon "That movie is so bad that it makes me mad at the hate Ghostbusters (2016) got the same year. I'd watch Ghostbusters five times before rewatching that trash pile. And I'm not saying Ghostbusters was any good... Independence Day 2 just sucked that much." – Disgod 12. The Dead Don't Die Universal Pictures "Should have been a slam dunk. Comedy parody of a zombie movie starring Adam Driver and Bill Murray? Fantastic supporting cast with Tilda Swinton, Danny Glover, Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny? Sounds like something I'd want injected directly into my veins. I legit watched the whole thing thinking surely, SURELY at some point, something interesting or entertaining must happen. Just one glimmer, one scene that indicates a human being actually made this thing with the intention to engage an audience. Imagine my surprise." 13. Gladiator II Paramount Pictures "There were sharks." – Flatonr "It didn't need a sequel, but I was hopeful it was going to be decent. The writing was lazy and the sharks were so unnecessary. They could've done a lot with it, but it was just a big budget cash grab instead." – SeeYouOn16 14. 2012 Sony Pictures Releasing "That's when stupid peaked." – petziii "That movie really just seemed to be an excuse for John Cusack to ramp over various things in different vehicles. Limos, RVs, planes, boats." – jbmc00 15. Thor: Love and Thunder Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures "I was on the edge of leaving like 10 times throughout the movie." – Intelligent_Cow_9334 "Bale doesn't get to play the bad guy often, and when he does... it's incredible. I loved him in this movie so much, but I can't force myself to slog through the rest of it for his scenes to do a second viewing." – _Teksho_ 16. Jack & Jill Sony Pictures Releasing 17. Buried Warner Bros. Pictures "The whole way through I would have a fit whenever Ryan Reynolds used his lighter (burning precious oxygen) to see the screen of his phone. His backlit phone, which, after being in pitch darkness, would have blinded any standards human being. I just completely lost my mind every time, I don't remember any details of the movie and I didn't finish it."
