Bhatti vows Telangana govt will complete Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme
: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has reiterated the Telangana government's commitment to complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) and turn the barren lands in backward Mahabubnagar district fertile. Mr. Bhatti was addressing a public meeting in Devarakadra constituency of the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district after laying foundation stones for 12 sub stations on Friday (June 6, 2025). 'During the BRS [Bharat Rashtra Samithi] regime, neither water flowed nor funds remained — everything vanished. The previous rulers looted whatever they could like thieves and are now trying to appear as saviors, but their own family members are revealing the truth: they had no love for the people,' he remarked. He said the government would fast-track the completion of the Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme and release the required funds without delay. He announced that funds for Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) and land acquisition would be released immediately. The gap between the Narlapur and Edula reservoirs will be filled with necessary funding. 'When ₹70 crore was needed for the Uddandapur R&R package, we released them without hesitation. In the future too, the government is ready to release any amount required,' he said. Referring to the Krishna River, the Deputy Chief Minister said that people of Palamuru dreamed of utilising its waters for their lands — the reason they demanded a separate State. However, in ten years, the previous rulers couldn't provide irrigation even to a single acre. He said all major irrigation projects in the old Mahabubnagar district — Jurala, Koilsagar, Bheema, Nettempadu, and Kalwakurthy — were completed during the Congress government. The current Indiramma government, he said, has launched the Indira Solar Giri Jal Vikasam scheme to empower tribal people with dignity. Under this scheme, the government is distributing free borewells, solar pump sets, and plants like avocado across 6.7 lakh acres owned by tribal communities.

Telangana launches 12,600cr Indira Solar scheme to empower tribal farmers
Hyderabad: In a move aimed at transforming tribal agriculture, the Telangana govt on Thursday announced its new flagship initiative—Indira Solar Giri Jal Vikasam scheme. With a total allocation of ₹12,600 crore, the scheme aims to provide solar-powered irrigation across six lakh acres of land over the next five years, directly benefiting 2.1 lakh tribal farmers who were granted land titles under the Forest Rights Act . Chief minister A Revanth Reddy and deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka will officially launch the scheme on May 18 at Macharam village in Amrabad mandal in Achampet constituency. Implementation of the scheme is scheduled to begin in the 2025-26 fiscal year and continue through 2029-30, with 100% subsidy coverage to ensure equitable access for all eligible farmers. The scheme will be jointly executed by multiple departments, including forest, energy, health and rural development, rural water supply, groundwater, agriculture, and horticulture, to ensure seamless integration and delivery. In addition to solar-powered irrigation, the scheme includes support for horticultural development through drip irrigation, provision of high-quality saplings, and interim income assistance through intercropping until long-term crops begin yielding. Officials said this holistic approach is designed to not only develop land but also drive sustained economic upliftment among tribal communities. Unlike other states that have limited their efforts to issuing RoFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act titles, Telangana becomes the first in the country to introduce a dedicated irrigation and livelihood enhancement scheme tailored to the RoFR Act beneficiaries. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Xu hướng tủ lạnh 2025: cập nhật mẫu mới, công nghệ hiện đại, giá hợp lý cho gia đình Việt southermore Undo The scheme targets comprehensive development of six lakh acres of both RoFR and non-RoFR forest lands, with off-grid solar pump-based irrigation systems at its core. At the district level, collectors will serve as the implementing authorities and will finalise necessary permissions in consultation with the in-charge ministers concerned. Project monitoring units will be set up in every district to oversee execution. In ITDA districts, PMUs will function under the project officer, ITDA, while in non-ITDA areas, officials such as the district tribal development officer will be designated to lead the initiative. According to the govt, although the former UPA govt introduced the RoFR Act in 2006 and allotted around 6.69 lakh acres to tribal farmers in Telangana, successive govts over the last decade have failed to implement effective schemes for irrigation and farming support.

Govt issues orders allocating ₹12,600 crore for 'Indira Solar Giri Jal Vikasam' scheme
The Government on Thursday issued orders allocating ₹12,600 crore for the 'Indira Solar Giri Jal Vikasam' scheme launched to improve the economic and living standards of tribal farmers holding land rights under the Forest Rights Act (RoFR). Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will officially inaugurate the scheme on May 18 at Macharam village, Amrabad Mandal, Achampet Constituency. The scheme is designed to provide solar-powered irrigation to 6 lakh acres over five years for 2.10 lakh tribal farmers holding RoFR titles. Deputy Chief Miniser Bhatti Vikramarka said that the UPA government in 2006 brought the RoFR Act as part of its efforts to uplift the economic and living standards of tribal farmers. Under the RoFR Act (2006), the Telangana government has recognised forest land ownership rights for 2,30,735 tribal farmers across 6.69 lakh acres and issued corresponding RoFR title deeds. Although the UPA government introduced the RoFR Act in 2006 and distributed land titles for approximately 6.69 lakh acres in Telangana, no substantial schemes were implemented by previous governments over the past decade to provide irrigation or farming support to tribal farmers. Now, the Congress govenrment is the first in the country to take the step to help tribals cultivate their lands. The scheme includes not only the provision of solar-powered irrigation but also support for horticultural crops through drip irrigation, supply of necessary plant saplings, and interim income support via intercropping until permanent yields begin.
